Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
I'm looking forward to more pics and Mojo's receipt of the coat - I'm thinking about this now. I completely butchered the CB coat. unwearable.

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
answer - YES, so long as I could get the proper size. That fits you good, Mojo. I was a bit worried cause Longjon's looked so oversized
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
The fabric DOES look great and that's the most important thing. Everything else is more or less fixable. The lining looks quite white-ish, that's the OST style, right? The AWE/DMC lining was tan, I liked that much more.
The pleats here are four separate pieces, the real pleats are separated only in the back middle, right? Are you planning on stiching those together?
I'd say a good buy, Mojo. By the way what about the rest of the things? The sash didn't look bad on the stock photo.

uh? what? show me. Oh the sash is horrible. It looks like the pre-viz sash before POTC 1. In fact the whole costume is the POTC 1 costume from the pre-viz mannequin.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
This cut does not exist in the real coat, that's what I was saying:
https://2img.net/h/i402.photobucket.com/albums/pp104/jedi_vader/buycostumescoat6p.jpg
There shouldn't be a cut, it should be one piece.
Same for the one on the other side.

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
That coat is AWESOME!!! Are they still selling them? Because I'm seriously considering getting one. WAY better than I ever could have expected!
As for the side vents, yes they were open in the movie coat, but there was a considerable amount more fabric there than in this coat, so it hid the split. The skirting was fuller, and it was all held together with a string going through all the layers of pleating (Christian has some great photos of this) which held all the pleating together. Because of these details the split in the skirts never really showed except for in the back. But yes indeed, from what I understand, the side vents were in fact split. This was also done on real, period coats (though I think the string was something from the costume dept.).

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Woops! I stand corrected! That's exactly the picture I was thinking of though. Thanks for throwing that up here, Christian!
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
nice picture Cristian thanks! yea, I was thinking I could also paint the "inside track" of the button hole stitch with a white paint pen
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Mojo, could you tell me what the tags on the inside of the coat say? Types of materials used perhaps?

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
I was just thinking that if you were unable to find similar material, one could buy 2 of these where you could hack the second coat up to make the pleats in the 1st coat and it would STILL be way cheaper than some coats out there. Then just add Button's buttons to the thing, voila, done.
I was also wondering, although you've said everything else is basically crap in this costume. Are the pants passable or is CB better than the pair provided?

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
the pants can be seen in my ebay listing... they certainly don't have much of a but and crotch area. Certainly costume grade. My CB's feel like jeans and are very tough.

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
I find it amusing that the design of the frog on the baldric is almost exactly accurate, while pretty much nothing else about the costume is, heh. The waistcoat seemed passable though.

The belts and baldric completely suck (ripped after like an hr), the pants I liked for now, the buttons had to be sewed on better, but I am going to buy CB pants soon. The waistcoat is alright, but it's first movie, and rips quite easy.
