Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Do you think, the baldric buckle could be used to recast it in metal? or is it too minisized?

The buckle they advertise is not what you get. They show a CotBP buckle, and well you get a square santa boot costume buckle.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
went ahead and took the plunge and let me just say this coat is beautiful! currently getting the arms taken in for this weekend and hope to have the pleats put in in the coming weeks! thanks for the find!

As did I I! Well I did keep the shirt.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Well for any of you future Jacks buying said coat and only for the coat PM me regarding the rest of the costume.
I have a particular skeleton that I need to convert into a zombie Jack Sparrow and need an inexpensive Jack costume to "shred", savvy?

I just got that in the mail the other day, The coat is great and everything on it is good too. The only problem i have with it is that the buttons fell off the vest, but a quick sewing job fixed it up alright.

Wow Mojo, that company must be wondering why all of their costumes are selling so suddenly. lol They should pay you for advertising!
Ordered the coat as well a while back, and I have to say I am quite surprised with the quality! Currently using it as a placeholder until I can gather the money for a Yordreem coat, but it works very well for now. Funcostumes.com did a surprisingly good job with the costume, I'm sure to the average costume buyer this costume would seem super legit

Yea, and after seeing the quality of Costume Base this whole set might be my new favorite cheap base for a starter costume
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Anyone here around 6'2" 205lbs? I am debating on this, and was wondering what size to go for.

NOW on Sale too?
So it looks like they have put these on sale, $108 & I notice the 2X plus size is only $98! With a bit of tailoring perhaps already required for us short/skinny jacks the 2X coat might have enough material to add some pleats with the leftovers.... I wasn't even in the market , as it were, but now I have to seriously consider. Cheers Mates!

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
So just got it I tried it on with me wig and rest of my garb gotta say I like the breeches and the shirt and vest but the belts sash and other stuff not so much I might keep the baldric and replace it with a acme Cotbp buckle

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
The baldric and belts aren't even worth keeping. I gave the baldric to a friend who wanted it for her pirate costume (kind of was just a one time thing), and the baldric broke right away. Plus ACME's buckles are pretty heavy, I don't think the baldric would hold up well with one of their buckles on it. Might as well just go out and buy an actual leather baldric and replace the buckle.
The sash is good to keep around though in case you want to use it for a different pirate costume, I actually liked the material okay... kinda flimsy, but still kinda nice.

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
on the note of using it for playing any pirate other than captain jack would be weird for me lol and I see what you mean by the baldric being to flimsy for an acme belt still haven't even finished my OST outfit so COBTP might be what I do after POTC 5 or something overall the only thing I want now is new boots preferably Brown

Weathering this coat...
Hello mates,
I´m posting some pics for you ...
It´s that halloweencostumes-frock coat and I brought it to a professional tailor for getting it more "slim-fit". The tailor made the sleeves tighter and the whole coat more "rockstar-fit"; closed the two side pleats. He also replaced the golden plastic buttons with the buttons from Simon Newton.
It took several weeks and a lot of german doubloons ... but now it fits really well for "that kind of cheap" frock coat.
After that I frayed the edges, added some well defined holes to several spots and added abrasion and a lot of synthetic dirt. Used "Dirty-Down-Spray"(ashblonde), too.
Here´s the result of my weathering-process ... :
I tried to catch some details on these pics (I took them outside, sunny weather). The second foto is more realistic "indoor-colour"...:

"Cheap" Frock
It certainly comes across very well in the photos Banditxx1! What did you pay for the original (or was this purchased with the set that Mojo posted originally) and what was the additional expense (approx.) for the updates? Thank you for sharing and thank you for the specifics on how you weather it!
