FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
So the question is really this.... would you buy this entire JS costume for $150
http://www.jacksparrowcostumes.com/realistic-caribbean-pirate-captain-costume.html
(shipping for me was only $6)
Would you buy the entire costume - only to keep the coat? Given what coats cost these days - even for a CB one.
Look at how this coat wears in real life:

Not bad I say... could be modded and you could do a lot worse.

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Looks MUCH more better than the costumebase coat. The color looks great. But all the photos are too small to judge. Unfortunately I suspect it has no pleats on the back, like the costumebase coat. If it was sold separately I would go for it, but... Well, maby you could sell the rest of the stuff on ebay? Hmm...

Pics of Coat...
So that is my costume thread, when I started the costume I didn't have a lot of money, alas I still don't. But am working bits at a time for a screen accurate costume. I'm actually making another one almost just like mine, a guy at the RenFaire offered me $1200 and some of that money will be used to make mine even better! As there are many things on mine I would like to add or change.
The coat is nice buttons need changing as they are plastic and not screen acurate, the vest it came with is horrible. I plan on doing a OST vest.
I was asked to post some pics of the coat, so here are some front and back...

I will check when I get home, it came with the coat the white pirate shirt, breaches, vest and sash. Also comes with two vinyl belts* and a Baldric*. (that are horrible*)
All for $150+ shipping.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
yeesh, buy the coat for 150 and sell the extra parts back on ebay and your coat costs even less.... I think I might do it......
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Sadly I am not good at identifying material. And there is no tag. Its coarse feeling and like wovenish. Feels very realistic and not smooth.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
Then I shall do it too...
But only after I see how your's goes. :p

Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
You could totally Mod that coat! Looking forward to the hi res close ups Mojo!
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
why does everything have to be "hi-res" with you kids? Why can't you settle for good old fashioned mono? Or VHS?
I'm going to do this coat tutorial using Polaroids....or on 110 film.... or sketches!

Either way I look forward to it, because I have it but am pretty new to modding stuff, so I would love to make this one look better.
Re: FunCostumes.com Frock Coat
I was talking to longjon actually... seeing as how he has it in hand...
