Ooh, well I think chances are one of them will be P5's director.Sparrowed wrote:Can't copy and paste right now so you'll have to click on the link.

Normally, I'd say I'm iffy(ok, I've been iffy regarding P5 news), but someone at KTTC mentioned that Deadline's director shortlists were VERY accurate. The person finally chosen usually comes from Deadline's lists! So if history is able to repeat itself, the same should happen here. Least we have an idea who the final chioces are. Though despite this, I still doubt we'll know this "in the coming weeks" as Deadline suggests. Mainly because of P5 having a July release date...for now.
Re: NEWS for Pirates 5 "Dead Men Tell No Tales" [WARNING] may contain spoilers
On the topic of Javier Bardem, I always imagined him being associated with The Spaniard. Or maybe even Angelica's new "right-hand man", now that Scrum is with Barbossa...could also be useful as a love-triangle for Angelica and Jack(just something someone brought up ).
My opinion on the matter, I think they're better off focusing on whatever characters they need. Whether it's a pirate villain or some other type villain(British, Spanish, etc) I'd probably be fine with whatever they come up with. Though I kinda doubt they'll look for historical figures to tie into the story; not to say they won't look to any myths or legends they've yet to introduce.
Honestly, I think the closest we'll get to a pirate villain for now is either Angelica, given her characteristics, The Spaniard, or even (depending on how far they'll go) the sea god Triton...as they do have Barbossa owning the "Sword of Triton".
Or, lastly and most certainly not least, they could have no new villain at all - meaning, make Barbossa a villain again!
It's not impossible, but then it's hard to predict what will happen to these characters. Even Geoffrey Rush himself said it's possible...

Also consider this statement..."If they keep shapeshifting this character, absolutely." Geoffrey concluded. "In fact, given the way things leave off in 'Pirates 4,' maybe the story will now come full circle and I'll get to play a villain again. Who knows? All I know is that - blue stocking and all -- the character of Barbossa is still great fun to play."
So thinking of all this, why try and figure out a newer pirate villain(since we've had so many in film history let alone 3 in the POTC movies), when we already have Barbossa who sorta fits into being the antagonistic pirate. Then again, as far as fans know, Angelica does have motives that could make her an antagonist. So where they go in five with Barbossa being the king of the world? He could turn into James Cameron, I don't know. He could lose that power or compound that power. His megalomania could explode in horrific ways.

Jarvier Bardem would be awesome!

What?? Nobody is intetested in the directorial choice(s)?
I havent seen Kon Tiki so I cant really say one way or another. Glad they have one, and kinda glad that Depp dropped out of Black Mass. Now he can concentrate on his pirating later on this year!

I'd recommend watching Kon Tiki! Excellent move and well deserving of the Foreign Film Oscar!

They seem like pretty cool guys. Not Gore, but potentially better than Rob(not saying he was bad per say; just that OST could've been better). Anyhow, from what I've heard, this seems to be a very good choice - their latest flick Kon-Tiki being among the reasons. Not sure if that all means they'll do a great job, but I certainly hope so. It might work, as (unlike Rob) these guys have dealt with filming at the open ocean and thrilling scenes...taking it from the Kon-Tiki trailer, as I've not seen the film as of yet.
Here's hoping that they'll do a good, if not great job!

Jerry Bruckheimer's Disney Future in Question As Moguls Defend His 'Lone Ranger' - The Hollywood Reporter http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jerry-bruckheimers-disney-future-question-582560
In the aftermath, Verbinski seems likely to suffer the most fallout of all the key players. But still, it appears that Bruckheimer faces a budget renegotiation on the planned Pirates of the Caribbean 5. There is still no approved script for the film, tentatively set for 2015, though Depp and Bruckheimer are set to return for directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg.

Depp to commit to "another* film before Pirates 5.

The plan is for Depp to squeeze the movie in before making a fifth Pirates of the Caribbean.

Re: NEWS for Pirates 5 "Dead Men Tell No Tales" [WARNING] may contain spoilers
Sincerely hope this doesn't lower P5's quality. I sorta doubt it, but depends on how many visuals there had to be. Has to be more than P1's budget at least.Sparrowed wrote:Jerry Bruckheimer's Disney Future in Question As Moguls Defend His 'Lone Ranger' - The Hollywood Reporter http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/jerry-bruckheimers-disney-future-question-582560In the aftermath, Verbinski seems likely to suffer the most fallout of all the key players. Of course this would depend if this is true. Wasn't the talk of lowering OST's budget true?

Heh, that should be possible. Didn't Kon-Tiki have shark scenes?jack o fan wrote:They should put the Megalodon in P5
Some things I should post here. First, might as well say I posted my P5 news blog, which compiles all the well-known rumors, or rather what we have as of today. Hope you all like it!
The second thing, a friend of mine told me that the film has a budget of $164 million, but I doubt it's not official(no links for this information)...so take it with a grain of salt here. And lastly, which I did just post on the blog, is a fairly big rumor or perhaps official info (either or). Anyway, it says that production - or rather, pre-production - is to start September 2013.

The compass of "Captain Jack Sparrow" - main character in the Pirates of the Caribbean saga, played by Johnny Depp - always guide to the place where he most wants to be, and at this time there is Puerto Rico.
Reliable sources confirmed that Time Trial stage production of the fifth sequel to the multimillion-dollar franchise from Walt Disney Pictures, will start in September this year. Also, the cast of the film - including Johnny Depp - come to the island between January and February 2014 to begin filming.
Roosevelt Roads Naval Base in Ceiba, will host and main location filming Pirates of the Caribbean 5.
First Time knew also that Disney will do most of the filming of Pirates 5 in said town because, in addition to providing access to recorded scenes where sea, also have at their disposal docks and ample space to recreate a village with several taverns. The base isolated environment is ideal also for sequences that require the use of explosives and demolition of structures built for the film.
The construction process to create the atmosphere you want Disney in Roosevelt Roads require at least three months. That's why the film company did not begin filming until early 2014.
The step he took to film Walt Disney Pictures Pirates of the Caribbean 5 in Puerto Rico was final at that point and that company paid the required fees. At the beginning, the process was delayed because, at one point, Disney had doubts about the tax credits offered in Puerto Rico, situation was clarified.
But Walt Disney Pictures is not the only company that had laid at Roosevelt Roads eye for the filming of an ambitious production.
The NBC also perform much of the filming of the pilot of his Crossbones Pirate series in this naval base.

Lots of large hangers and barracks for people to film in and sleep in!
Great SCUBA in Rosie Roads!

Don't underestimate Mr. Depp's dedication to projects. Remember, he did film The Tourist right before OST...if memory serves, that was shot in the first half of 2010 before June. So if he can do it then, whose to say he couldn't now?Sparrowed wrote:Thats great news. I was afraid with Depp signing for another movie that there would be delays.
Latest rumor and possible casting decision.
Original linkSAMARA Weaving may be the latest Home And Away actress to crack Hollywood.
Word is the starlet has been shortlisted for a role in the latest instalment of Disney's blockbuster franchise Pirates Of The Caribbean 5.
With Home And Away on a filming hiatus, Weaving is currently in Los Angeles with her model boyfriend Rob Moore, and is rumoured to be meeting with casting directors.
"They are still auditioning but they have a short list and I'm sure she's on it," an industry source said. Gemma Ward and Geoffrey Rush are other Australians who have starred in the hugely successful Pirates Of The Caribbean movies.

New casting rumor! Word is both Sonam Kapoor and Tara Sharma Saluja are auditioning for the same role. Hmm...I wonder if it is the role Sarmara Weaving was trying out for.
Original link
Not sure about the other two, but Tara Sharma Saluja has tweeted about the audition here and here (scroll down to the reply from Silent Oak). The account isn't verified, so we can't be sure, but it appears to be her.
