Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
are you going to post a link to the spoonflower print?
Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I don't think I can until it's been printed and I receive it as a 'proof' print. It should be here by April 27. I am still going to email the design to anyone who wants to rush print it ( went with a guaranteed delivery date instead of the actual rush service which is within a week... saved 20ish bucks ) but if anyone is interested in the print for future use ( ie. sometime around or after the movie release ), I'd like for them to wait until I can offer it on the website and earn 'spoonflower dollars'.
Now I'm going to have to email everyone and ask when they need it by and which route they are able or need to take!!

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
Sounds good. What reference did you have for the background green color? It always looks so black in pictures.
Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
To my eye it always looks a dark green/blue. And then all of the action figures/dolls have green OR blue vests. And compared to the black trim on the vest, the actual background isn't a true black.
Even though I already ordered a yard in the dark green, I made up an image with a barely off black with blue hue background as well which I think I'm also going to order, then I'll decide between the two and sell the other one.
Also, I don't know whether it will print lighter or darker than what I see on my monitor... in this case... darker would be better ( and I guess possible since cotton is absorbent and will hopefully suck up the pigments well ) but I'll have to wait 'til it gets here to see!

Plus fading, sunlight and of course the print on the fabric will all play a part as well.

I second that!!!
Think I'll wait 'til after the movie to see what her 'main' coat will be... or just which one is more awesome.

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I walked behind the Disney Angelica the other day and her fabric is exactly like this - yes it's green. I think yours is going to spot on.
Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
Hooray!!!!!!!!!! Silly colours looking different everywhere. It's so great to hear this! Thanks for being our on-site eyes!! Here's hoping it prints dark enough for the same confusing effect. Muahaha!!! I thought it mightve been strange for all of the merchandise to be variations of green and teal if it was simply black. Yay! Can't wait to receive it!

Angelicas Belt and Baldric
So most of the talk so far has been about Angelicas "soft parts" but she also has some leather items - namely her baldric and belt. Perhaps later once this thread matures, we can move it into the regular Angelica thread, but for now we can keep this study separate:
As far as we can see the waist belt is made up of three parts:
1. A black (most likely 2 inch) black leather strap.
2. A fancy buckle (most likely a baldric buckle on its side)
3. At least 3 distinct conchos: a star, a circle and a cross
Of course there are two different approaches to this: making it Screen Accurate exact, or making it super close and nobody knows the difference.

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I can't cast resin parts, so my offers will be the "close enough" type. I bet our own Captain Savvy will one day be casting these conchos, but he will need to get up close to the Disney Angelica.
"Can I photograph your belt?" That will be an awkward conversation. Anyway....
The belt blank can be purchased at your local leather store or ebay: 2" belt blank
You'd then have to have some leather cutting stamps that could knock out "circle" shapes and "diamond" shapes. Off center the shapes along the edge and begin alternating punching out the half circles and half diamonds - my best guess is every inch and a half.

Perhaps Savvy will contribute his amazing D-land baldric pics?

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I have two conchos done. I am worried about scale so I think I am using a two inch belt for both the waist belt and baldric straps.
I am attacking the "apple" tonight!!!

Belt conchos or Baldric conchos? (or are some the same)
Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
Belt conchos. If you look at the DLR pics you can see the conchos are the same but the baldric is slightly smaller.

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
So the belt and baldric conchos.... are the same, but the baldric is not as "thick" as the waistbelt? I am trying to follow the bigger smaller....
Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I was actually wondering if her tattoo was a combination of the spear+heart from the flag as well... it definitely looks like it may have those elements in it... along with an anchor and... a mustache.
UM, are you going to be selling the buckles/conchos?? Or would you be interested in casting a set for me? I'm thinking of trying to assemble my own belt and baldric to save on funds... if yes... do you think they'd be ready before the movie?? Please let me know! I save your life you save mine, we're square! ( I provide paisley, you provide buckles, savvy? ) AND YES! This is ACTUALLY life or death for me! For you see... if I splurge on an expensive assembled belt and baldric I will have less money which means I can't buy a new car anytime soon which means mine is very likely to blow up with me in it. This is serious stuff!

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
Anyone have any ideas what to search for for her hat trim? I'm bummed that I can't get my synthetic leather strips to fold the same way and stay that way long enough to be stitched down! D: instead of the M_M_M_M shapes i think mines just going to have to be |_|_|_|_|_
And THAT'S NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
not now that I've seen the trim up close. I feel like I'm a zombie searching all night. It has replaced my paisley addiction and until I can figure out how to make it myself, I shall search for it assuming it exists in the physical world.

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I'm truly hoping ACME will be selling the baldric buckles because that is a four piece system and very complicated.
I am hoping to get the conchos done, attempt the belt buckle, and the hat buckle. It just takes SO MUCH TIME!!!!

It also looks like the hat trim pieces is 1/2 inch tall and not 1 inch like I have. It is just a little too tall for the brim edge.
