Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
As for the vest coloring, I think it's difficult to discern given the very dim lighting and such. Not to mention the hero costume would be weathered due to the filming in the water, time in the sun, and other elements. In the display it does look blackish, however I've never thought (personally) that it's a black vest. When she wears it herself it does come of as some sort of color with a darker tint to it. Again, that's a subjective observation. No need to argue though Soon enough we'll be able to see the fabric for ourselves and make our own decisions. Plus, we don't all have to agree! It's entirely legitimate for all of us to make the costume as we see it! ;]
But once again...great job to all the ladies who have been working on this! Let's keep at it
PS: Blue coat > Red coat to me.

Very true, Lunesca... If you are going for your own interpretation...then rock it ladies, BUT...if you're going for screen accuracy COLOR most definitely matters.

Ditto. Though of course...we might end up just having to making both...

That is my next project, the blue coat. It looks full length, so I have purchased a victorian ladies coat pattern, as it appears to have the same line and the sleeves are set the same way. It will just need adjustments to the collar.
There were no costumes that I know of on display at the DL premiere.

Anyways, is anyone embarking on the BLUE frock coat she wears for about -1 minute in the film?
Is it on display anywhere? ...Other than at the DL premiere?
It's really a very pretty coat.

@Sparrowed - I'd definitely agree that there's blue in there (and yes, totally matters for SA)!

Oh yeah! Put my deposit down this morning.
I'm hoping I can get my Angelica half as good as these are looking. Good work, ladies!

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
A question for the ladies...
When you completed your AT costumes, what did you use for pants?
Drop front breeches, or anything you had around the house in black?
I need a pair of pants/breeches for this costume and the concept AT and thought about these...
Or does someone know a better place for WOMANS drop front breeches??

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I used my own black dress pants which are more fitted than breeches. I'm super self conscious about my legs and with the loose vest I thought I looked too short and stumpy in baggy pants. Those look pretty good, as long as the corset is long enough to cover all those buttons..

I agree; they're fine if you can cover the buttons. I wore fitted pants that I already had for the movie. I'll be making some below-the-knee breeches for SDCC.

Re: Angelica Teach ( Film style ) Costume Build
I just got black pants from the thrift store and cut then below the knee. The breeches at El Capitan had a fly in front. Black jeans would do the trick.

So I think I'm gonna do the burgundy Ange shirt just for fun (would make for some cool "dance" photos on a ship). I can't determine if this one has lace, too. It seems like it's just normal, with the same slit cuffs and such. Your thoughts?

Oh! I just bought two from Quill & Ink! I'm willing to part with one, you can have it Lunesca, but you'll have to add the lace and whatever. I'm keeping the second one for my other costume.

Wow, really? Thank you so much! Is there a link to where you got it as well? So nice of you!

Ha! I was thinking the same thing! Burgundy shirt for parties when I don't feel like wearing the whole thing... I have a party coming up but have... a different kind of take on Angelica that I'm hoping to have done for that one.
