Can't wait to see the end result of this project. That concept drawing actually reminds me of a gaming miniature a friend of mine showed me once of a lady pirate captain...

As for the hat, I think the darker color - as a few people have already said.

And those last boots are awesome - I have a lady friend who would go crazy over them - where did you find them?

They do look like buckle shoes with spats.

The use of long spats or gaiters is common for soldiers during the time period to protect the legs and stockings, so that's a possibility...

Yep! Etsy! It's a great place to shop!!

In the drawing, I though with all those buttons on the side that these boots would look good.

My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 8974893a

But I wanted brown which they don't have in my size, only black.
Someone said they looked steampunk so I wasn't sure if I should buy them or not.

So...in your piratey opinion, should I get these in black and buy a buckle???
My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 0c2bb9ef

Or, these in brown with some type of spatty gaiter???

No more boot pics I promise! Laughing
I rec'd this from me seamstress friend:

"Hi hon! The coat is not even NEAR picture-ready, it really isn't. :< ...I'm horribly behind on everything.... I wish sewing wasn't so insanely unpredictable.
I guess she's having sewing machine problems....but I'm
in total agreement about the whole unpredictability thing. It's been 2 months, and she also has the ATCA corset fabric, the OST vest fabric and the rest of my strumpet stuff that I guess hasnt been started. Well, maybe I'll have it for Halloween.  Sad

I DO HOWEVER...I have a question regarding this particular costume....
My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 7ba63038
"wHaT is that thing that's underneath her coat??
-a  waistcoat?

-Some type of open front and back chemise? It looks like the corset is *over* it??
It looks like a combo of both?!?!?!
WHY would you wear a corset over a chemise and waistcoat??
Whatever it is, it's drawn in a very confusing way!!

While I'm waiting on the rest of this costume...maybe I should *try* to make this myself ?? After I figure out WHAT IT is? My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 Shrug

Any suggestions re:color if it's a waistcoat??
The coat itself is dark brown suede cloth with black cuffs and lapels. The corset is cream with black, brown and gold.
I was going with a maroon chemise... But now I'm not sure what direction to go in?!?!

if its a plain waistcoat, I guess it looks easy enough....four pieces. Just need a color.

But if it's a weird chemise I may have to buy something else and try to modify it. My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 JC_rant

Problems with the hats too. Now I'm going with a Caribbean Rose custom.

Cuffs still need to be added, and the buttons are on order.

I've come to the conclusion that that "thing" is a long vest.

I'm thinking something black on black?

It appears to have some heavy Spanish flare! I'd scout through some period piece clothing from Spain or Mexico during the early to mid 18th century and see what you can find in ways of color and style.

I would go with red on black.

Here's the coat with the bodice

Heres the black cincher, it looks better than the pics. I could go with a red pattern I suppose.

I just bought the boots...

Yeah, I like it too and it's only 18.00 a yard...but I'm not sure if I like it "that" much to use if for the waistcoat. My Concept Art Angelica Costume (WIP) - Page 2 Cheesy

I did however receive some swatches today

Wow! Sparrowed! Those are rad! Where did you find those at? I have to get a pair! Those boots you picked are gorgeous and they didn't have my size either. You find the neatest things on the net and I can't wait to see your finished project. I put some kind of Angelica costume together but isn't nearly as extravagant and fancy as yours. I love you Very pretty luv! How is the project going so far?

Thank you! Since I'm not a seamstress Im having thing made for me...hat, coat, chemise etc.
So I'm at the mercy of the people making it and sending funds out.
The coat is almost finished and I just bought this fabric for the tunic type waistcoat...that... I'm going to make myself. *fingers crossed*

The boots you mentioned were from Etsy, I'm not sure if they still are available. I went with a different pair.

I figured etsy. I googled tall skeleton spats and found the picture of them and was able to contact the maker Smile. She said she can make another pair. I think they are rad because they kind of go with The Queen Anne's Revenge. What a Face
I sent her another message asking the price. Do you remember by any chance?

Its looks like its defo a long split chemise under the corset- if you're having problems finding a pattern/modifying one- send me your measurements and I can make you up one and send it! Looks like it would be fun to do. (won't charge either, it wouldn't take long).

Also, since this thread has been dug up, I figured I'd mention that I recently sold a custom hat over on the Castaway Trading Co. Etsy page that was inspired by the one she wears in the concept drawing. You should be able to see the listing below, even though it's been sold. Apologies for the somewhat poor pictures, but I think it gets the idea across.
