Re: Trying to Finish Up My OST Costume
This whole OST Jack costume has been complimented by my OCD savvy? I like everything neat and organized.
I get my breeches back from the taylor today! After I dyed them, I had them taken apart and re-cut to fit after I dropped 50lbs. Looking forward to trying them on and them fitting.
The kids Princess & Pirate Party is Saturday, which is why I put this costume together or more like the excuse I used! LOL
I still need the following -
Find the beads & feather to make the new Button Dangle
ACME Dragon and Button rings
Sew in tabs on the back of the waistcoat to be able to adjust it a bit like on ACME's waistcoat
ACME OST tricorn
Accurate second flintlock
Finish the inside of my compass - brass items and the painted NSEW disc
Weather my shirt more around the collar & cuffs
Add a few more accurate items to my wig - better Arabic coins, exact belly dancer tassel, Button dangle, pocket watch key - which I found an exact match!
Lastly, I think - I want to buy a male mannequin and display this cool costume

LOVE IT! (we gotta introduce you to Tall Captain Jack!)
http://www.tallcaptainjack.com/
Let us know if you still want pointers, I think what always helps me best, is taking my photographs of me in costume and comparing them against the pictures of Jack, I check one thing (like the bandanna) and then work my way down on each item and take notes.
I think your costume came out great! There are not many who own a whole OST costume at this point, you are leading the way mate!

Christian, if you have any suggestions/picture that would help on making an accurate OST costume, I'd love some advice as well.

Re: Trying to Finish Up My OST Costume
under the formal consent from chad.. this are my points:
- Baldric loop should be a little bit down
- The belts are on your left side.. should be on your right side.
- pelts are attached to anna maria belt .. good , but should be more up, and towards your right side...
- mermaid - bone a bit Up.
- compass attached to flower belt ( OST ) AND A BIT up..
- and the loop of the sash should be shorter.
after that lets start with the weathered .. but that is another chapter.
the rest looks really good !!!!!!!!!

Like I said on the phone mate....cut that mustache into two separate pieces, make the hairs more scraggly in the two pieces (right now they look to perfect), angle them down more when you apply them, and finally curl the hairs in on the ends down past the edges of your mouth.
Also Pirate Palette! Well worth the investment. Apply with 99% Isopropyl alcohol. This way your facial prosthetics will blend into your face better and won't appear to be "jumping out" of your face.

Clown, I got it from YorDreem. It was several months ago when there were less hi res pics. The wig on Scott's site looks much different than the type I ordered.
I added the following to it -
Tyrannical Treasures Fid Sail Needle, Trade Bead Dangle w/ black OST black bead I added, and Kuchi Dangle, Cristian's ZF Dangle w/ Gems N Knots bead I added, Skull coin in the back, Braid Cross, and Arabic coins w/ bellydancer bell, Our Own Captn Jack Savvy's Sea Coin & Balboa Coin, I found & added the correct silver Key in the back of the wig, the Red Lampwork Bead, I changed and added a bunch of the ties - red wrap in the front, leather wraps, cord wraps, I made the wood ring w/ the brown twine on the twine wrapped dread, I made my Bellydancer Dangle until I find or buy a real one, and I weathered all the material & leather wraps in the wig. Scott's wig is a great base, it's well done, and affordable in my opinion. If I had to do it again, I'd ask him to make me one with only the stuff I wasn't going to change and get the stuff I added. I still have to add the new Button Dangle which our Pirate Lord Cristian was kind enough to send me some good pics of. I'm with Cristinan, I won't be doing much else until I can get better pics of what's really in the wig. I'm very happy with it!

Yes, with Goof Off and a brass brush! I did it some more just now and it looks even better, much more shiny, but still weathered.

Re: Trying to Finish Up My OST Costume
Scott at YorDreem sent me his upgraded waistcoat button trim and material to make back tabs that tie to keep the back of the vest neat and in place. I almost have my Button Dangle completed. Richard has a Flower ring for me! And I found these on E-Bay India

Re: Trying to Finish Up My OST Costume
Button Dangle....I still have to paint the beads the correct color
From the crapy pics that we've seen and Cristian's input, here's what I came up with
What the braid wrap looks like
