My costume so far
Hi
Been working on this for a new year party, but still some way to go. I do have a Ms Mazie beard set and make up and will be wearing contacts. I am also trying to loose more weight:lol:
Costumes so far consists of
Jacksparrowcostumes.com coat with SA buttons
Costumebase vest with SA buttons and weathered.
CB shirt, tea stained
CB grey breeches
Leather brown boots, but not SA
empire sash
Home made leather belts
Empire baldric belt
Wrong pistol, but I'm working on it
Home made wig but not yet complete
Sword in need of modding
Homemade leather palm glove and wrist wrap
MR rings
What do you all think?

Re: My costume so far
Nicely done
Good job on the belts!
You may want to weather your vest, shirt, and sash a bit more because it doesn't seem to be showing up in pictures. I've heard some say that over-weathering is actually a good thing. So you may want to weather slightly more than you think you should, just go slowly, take pics as you go and use that to decide if you want to weather any further.

agreed - and be mindful of pics of Jack - it's not just wearing the items it's HOW you wear them - keep it up
Re: My costume so far
Latest bit, this started life as not even a zizzle toy but the cheap Chinease knock off. The plastic is very light so to give it some weight I filled it with modding clay. It's not quite finished yet as I need to blend in the pain over the scre holes but all in all I'm quite chuffed with it.

Re: My costume so far
Finished my wig, its a homemade wig complete with homemade sail bone and Swaggarts coins. I have also made the dangles apart from the one on the bandana which is a MR one. Bandanna has been faded (although it doesn't show up as well on the pictures) and made the ponytail as a add on as per the tutorial on the Wiki. Still need the sea coin, but that is in the post. Comment welcome...

Re: My costume so far
You did a good job so far. I would soften the tip of the sailing needle, make it a bit rounder. So it is obvious, that it´s made out of some kind of paint brush.
The sword looks great! Maybe it could be a bit more rotten on the blade... remember the really needful advice "it´s a good way to over-weather and distress the costume parts" ...

Agreed, now softened. It was made from a bamboo spoon as per someone's thread on here.Banditxx1 wrote:You did a good job so far. I would soften the tip of the sailing needle, make it a bit rounder. So it is obvious, that it´s made out of some kind of paint brush.

Re: My costume so far
Everything's coming along real nicely.
For the ties in your wig, are you going for total screen accuracy? I just ask because the red tie that you have on the left side of your wig (going the length of the dreadlock) seems to be more consistent with what Jack has in his OST wig.
As a side note, I learned something new today. Scrolling through Jack Sparrow costuming forums greatly confuses the classmates sitting behind you.

You can keep that tie in the wig if you really like it... most people won't even notice the difference between the ties in Jack's wig. It's generally only us Jack Sparrows who pay close attention to that kind of stuff.
