I was just informed that your boss needs you to stay late that day... so.... you might have to find someone who can use your tickets.
Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
Well we do have one extra ticket but alas it is not my place to say who can use it cuz I'm just a guest!

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
Well the other good news was that we had a ticket for Tuesday night as well.
The other cool thing is that a current temp at my work used to work Special Events at the El Capitan Theater for Disney. She still has contact there and is planning on getting me ON Stranger Tides SWAG! This includes full size movie posters, individual character posters, hats, pins, swag..................! Excited!

Well all I can say is AWEsome and OSTanding!
My wife was bit late in arriving but we were able to make it in on time. We were up in the balcony and moved downstairs fourth row back right side.
I loved the following:
- Good action sequences
- Great new characters
- Lots of humor in places
- Great storyline
- Ian McShane is an excellent Blackbeard
- Entire mermaid sequence was well done and very eerie!
Not too keen on:
- Too close to the screen developed a crook in me neck,
- 3D was OK. Definitely too dark in a darkened theater which destroyed the perspective aspect of 3D
- Some places were campy with the comedy and maybe 3 - 4 lines were recycled from previous movies.
- Lot of screen time explaining backstory for Angelica and Jack. From interviews with various TV and movie actors that is what they hate having to do. Explain backstory elements in the present especially with one another since it is their backstory....but it had to be done.
But overall I am going to see it again and definitely see it again in NON 3D!
PM me if you want spoilers!!!

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
so in your opinion..... you don't need to see it in 3D (personally I don't believe you ever need to see a movie in 3D)

I think all of the pros are EXACTLY what I wanted to hear!!! Especially storyline, action, humour and characters. They are, afterall, what makes the movie. The cons I'm not too worried about. I usually show up super early and get dead center seats. I have noticed a bit of darkening with the glasses but it's never been enough for me to actually notice in the film. There was a lot of complaints about it for Alice too and I thought it looked just fine. Maybe I have supereyes that auto adjust brightness. :lol
I was also thinking that maybe the recycled lines aren't SO bad... it's only been about a month since I watched the last 3 so they're quite prominent in my memory. For more casual fans, I don't think this will be as much of an issue, if at all.
How many jolly rogers out of 10 would you give it?
How would you rank it with the other 3?
How was Penelope in the movie? Funny? Did people seem to take a liking to her?
What were the reactions to the 3D? And the mermaid sequences?
How similar were Syrena/Philip to Will/Elizabeth? Comparable? Or did they hold their own?
Is Barbossa still as epic and piratey than ever or do you feel he lost a lot of his character whilst in the midst of the Kings Men?
Was it good enough that you're still planning to see it as many times as you said you were going to?
umm...I think that's all for now.

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
This is awesome UM! Very OutSTanding! I heard something about the mermaid slap scene that was shown in one of the featurettes and some of the trailers possibly not being shown in one of the advanced screenings of the film, where Jack says:
" Marina!"
"Please don't.."
"Smack!"
I really hope that mermaid slap scene appears in the final film. Was there a scene like that in the film when you watched it? I sure hope so! That is such a great moment! Fantastic scene hehe and it should be kept in the final film that's for sure!

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
More detailed review but some regurgitation!
So here is my review SPOILER FREE!
We saw a sneak preview at the El Capitan Theater in Hollywood last night. It was shown to a VIP / media group and we were filler. Almost did not get in because the wifey showed up late but thank you to the security guy at the front of the line that bent over backwards to accommodate us. Good man! Good pirate......security......dude.......person!!
Pros:
- Great storyline. Just enough comedy and action.
- Good to see old characters.
- New characters were also good. Nice to see a new batch of individuals getting the stardom power now from this movie.
- Score was excellent especially the entire mermaid sequence.
- Ian McShane as Edward "Blackbeard" Teach aka Mr. Beard was a perfect match. Except he is a little short to be playing Blackbeard.
- Props, costumes, Queen Anne's Revenge WOW! NICE!
- London shots were funny and action packed.
- SOOOOOOOOOOOO many props to be made!!! I'm already starting on the 3D silver skull movie display in about a 20% smaller scale than a human sized skull! It is going well!!!
- Being a costumer I was paying close attention to some of the unanswered questions about Jack's costume as well as Angelica's costume!
- Sound editing was nicely done!
Cons:
- I could have done without the 3D but that was just the environment we were in. When we saw the 8 minute Sneak Peek at Disneyland in 3D the ambient light from the outdoors made it a perfect environment to view the Real 3D view. In the El Capitan theater it was very dark so that made the movie very dark. Even scenes that were filmed in the bright sun of Hawaii were darkened in post processing.
- Some recycled comedy lines.
- If you watched any or all the trailers / featurettes that have been hitting the web not all things made the final cut of the film. Albeit what we saw may not be the final cut.
- 2 hour 20 minute run time was a bit long so kids may start getting fidgety.
- Back story conversations in the present time. Interviews I see with actors from TV and film always say they hate when their scripts call for that sort of dialogue. But in some cases it is necessary.
- DO NOT SIT IN THE FIRST 5 ROWS IN WHATEVER THEATER YOU ATTEND IN 3D. You will get a "creek" in your neck that will last a day or so plus the Real 3D is always best middle center of any theater!
Over all I would give the movie a 4 1/2 out of 5 Stars but mainly because of the 3D and the environment in which we saw the movie. Definitely will be seeing it again! As a matter of fact we are seeing it in full costume on May 14th Pirate Fan Event and the midnight showing on May 20th!!

Similar but dropped scenes! I would like to see the cut with all the deleted scenes added. 2 hours 20 minutes is a long run time so things had to be removed.

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
Good to hear it was entertaining. My fear is that it would seemed "forced" to make a buck, but if it stands on its own that is great. Would you say it ends in a manner that could lead to another (if that is too much of a spoiler question, I understand)??
Personally I'm not on board with the whole 3D thing. Is it really needed? Isnt' good cinematography enough. Geez!!! It's kind of annoying, but I can deal with it I suppose.

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
2 hours and 20 minutes is a good run time but it's still not too long by any means. I'd rather see the full cut of the movie. I really hope they release the whole thing come May 20th and I hope they don't cut out all those wonderful things. I'm sure it is a great film and therefore people will enjoy it all the way and will not feel its too long. Leave all the awesome content in. An extra 10-15 minutes, even 20 minutes or so extra onto the run time is totally fine. I'd be happy with the movie being over 2 and a half hours. In fact I think it would be good if it was over 2 and a half hours minimum. Heck I'd love a 3 hour version lol! For example, I watch all the Lord of the Rings films all the time, especially the extended versions and they are never boring.

Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
I'm excited to know whether the version of the movie released at the premier was different at all to the version seen at the advanced screenings if anyone knows??
I really hope those few classic scenes that were cut from the advanced screening version were put back into the final film for the premier!

Saw OST last night...
...as part of a pre-screening event (they had a group of us at the theater as pirates - NO Jack Sparrows allowed, needless to say, so it was my back up kit...).
Anyway, for coming out and entertaining guests we were given seats to watch the movie...
All I can say is WOW!!!
Personally, this is my favorite since the original... If you haven't seen it yet, you will NOT be disappointed... And I'm glad I didn't finish my OST wig yet - need to tweak some things....

Awesome! I will be doing the same thing tonight, no Jack's allowed..weird. Was it a disney sponsored event? I got a call to do it, and then Piratesfansfirst sent me an email saying i could see it as a guest, although I was already a pirate. What's different about the wig? Send me a PM, i've got a gig for the midnight premier on thursday and I want to look right!!

Well, there's not really anything different other than what people have already pointed out, it's just that there is a lot of loose, messy hair that sticks out along with the dreads - much closer to a lighter COTBP look with a more dreads added rather than the more dreaded DMC/AWE wigs. And I noticed there are a couple of braids in back as well - I was familiar with the two in front as well as the weird semi dread/braid thing but it also looks as though he has a couple of braids in the back.
I would still go by what most of the people have already posted though. And yes, it was a Disney event through a 3rd party coordinator/promoter, so no Jacks allowed...
This weekend though, I have 3 different things that I am doing independently so that's a different story...
Re: The Brethren Court OST Review Thread!
I got to see it last night too, and it was amazing! I actually did get to dress up as Jack, since it was a 3rd party organizing the promo. They specially requested me to come out in costume and entertain, and in return they saved seats for me and my girl
I totally agree about it being great! I definitely had a few issues with it, but overall these were fairly minor. I'd really put it about on par with Dead Man's Chest, myself. My biggest complaint I think is that I felt it was a bit "underwhelming," if you will. Since it was a stand-alone story, it didn't have the same character development as the others, and I felt I didn't have the same attachment to the characters in this story as with the others. Believe it or not, I really quite missed Will and Elizabeth. But overall, it was still a great pirate yarn, with lots of swashbuckling, douoble-crossing, adventurous deeds, etc. And like UM said a while back, it was nice to see Jack finally manning up a bit, and acting like a true captain, primarily during the mutiny scene.
Can't wait to see it again on Thursday night!

This is now the "I just saw OST early" thread! I just saw it as well, finally. I thought it was pretty funny how everyone is going nuts over OST vest thread color and you can't even see the vest in the movie.
