Where did you find the ends for your kuchi dangle coin?
Thanks.
As for the bits on the end of my kuchi dangle, they are a matter of pure chance.
A friend found them years ago not long after the first movie came out, he was researching the costume and found a few of these on some jewellery and thought they looked just like them. Several years later when I told him what I was doing he dug them out again, but he only had a couple. so I took a mould of one, poured some wax ones, spent some time tidying them up then got another friend to cast them in metal for me. I know they are now very hard to find and I was very lucky he still had them after all that time.

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
You should get your friend to cast some more and sell them to the CJS community lol
I'm sure there are a few Sparrows out there would want to buy them, your friend could make some extra money

Thanks for your help and finding that.
The sash would hve been great for £62 but with it being out side the UK shipment would prob be £35+ then I'd get stung for import duties so would prob end up costing me over £100. I will hang on and see if anything else turns up in the UK, I'm in no rush, most of the public won't know the pattern is wrong.

Thanks.
I first soaked them in tea. I tried several tea's on scrap bits of fabric first till I found a brand I liked the look of,as some of the tea's have a redish look to them and I wanted one that looked more of a brown/amber colour. Then for the sash I laid it out in the garden and sprayed a mist of black spray paint over in from a distance. I kept doing it till it looked how I wanted it to. For the shirt I made a watery mix of black and brown acrylic paints in a water sprayer, hung the shirt up out side and sprayed it, again from a distance till it looked about right. And for patches of stains I dabbed the shirt with a wet tea bag round the neck and under the arms.

I have thought about it but its alot of work as we use the wax removal technique, which means the mould gets destroyed after each casting.

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
Got a baldric sorted. Bought a old one off a friend, he had used the buckle for a new belt so had this spare one.
It was brown but I needed it to be black. So I gave it a few coats of that paint on black boot polish, it had a very shiny finish to it, but I found a coat of normal polish toned it down nicely.
My buckle is not exactly right but ACME were sold out so I found one that looked close, and gave it a quick spray of gold paint.
And my Disney toy sword fits it ok

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
Thanks
Saw how someone had got one of the disney tricorns and painted it up to look more like leather so I thought I would give it a go too. First I stretched it over a large bowl so it would go on over my wig. Then I gave it a coating with a brown spray acrylic paint, When dry I gave it about three coats of PVA glue mixed 50/50 with water, allowing it to dry between coats. I next sprayed it with a light coat of black acrylic spray paint, when dry I sanded it all over with a fine sandpapper to give it a more weathered look. This is how it came out.
Should do me till I save up funds to get a real leather one at a later date.

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
Bought 48 brass buttons for only £10 and set about tarnishing them.
Then added them to the coat.
Then added them to the coat.

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
Thanks guys.
For weathering I plan to dirty the coat lining by spraying it with a watery mix of black and brown acrylic paint as it does look to bright at the moment. I do also plan to try and tailor the arms of the coat to make them a bit tighter too, but not sure how to do that just yet.

Re: My COTBP Captain Jack Sparrow build
Dirtied my coat lining just the other day. Used a watery mix of brown and black acrylic paints. I added more dirt around the cuffs as I felt they would be dirtier.
