Mini Jack Sparrow build

Some of you know I am working on a mini Jack Sparrow build for my son.

Thanks to Sparrowed I have a super awesome Jacket (that needs some sewing and fixing up) Here is how he looks so far:



I have his compass, pelts, belt buckles, cannibal accessories and his bandanna. I still need breeches, boots and belt leathers and some sewing projects on the cloth parts we have.

I went down to the thrift store to look for cheap belts that would do for the 2 waistbelts. I found a good AM belt, but even better.... I found... Boots!

I used super glue to attach the new buckle and then re-punched new holes to it his size.

I cant shoot for accuracy here, I needed everything up high so he does not hit it when he walks. Threading the bone was the hardest thing - I had to punch holes in the existing toy and then super glue the rope in each hole (meaning the rope isn't going all the way through, it's a separate rope on top then from the bottom).

I made the compass leather the right length for an adult, so that... if ever... one day....(yea right)

I also didn't paint the belt effects or try to get him the real deal (even though they would be smaller) I still want the costume to have an air of innocence and "costume play" about it.

Found bamboo place mats at TARGET in the dollar section - they are not exactly the right shape - but it will look "good enough" when I am done with it.

The Cannibal kit comes with a vinyl treasure map sewn to a canvas back. I bought a bamboo place mat from a bargain bin and used indistrial strength glue to adhere the map to it. Then I just reapplied the velcro ties to the bamboo and dusted it with a little flat black paint.

Is he going to get a baldric mate?

He "is" going to have a paisley baldric. I contacted JAT about making a mini-me version and the wife just thinks it's too expensive. So I will be making it myself. Which means it may suck. I have to get the paisley from Joanne's when it goes on sale... and then my troubles begin.



Stuff left to do:
- Sewing projects: put the buttons back on the waistcoat, remove the back of the waistcoat, hem the coat
- make the bandanna smaller
- make the baldric
- restitch the tricorn (it's already falling apart)
- make the wristwraps
- get a piece of eight


He could care less about the bells and whistles... he just likes the gun
