Empire's OST Waistcoat

Today (after 8 long days ) I received my EW OST waistcoat. It was a good option for me. So I'd figure I'd review it a bit.... If you want some more in depth info on it, I am willing to add more. Click the thumbnails for bigger pics. On a side note I receive no compensation for my reviews, they are MY OPINIONS only.
1.) fabric is very VERY close (IMO), It is a silky light aubergine fabric, with a bronze stitching that changes with the light (true to Jack's in the film).

2.) The lining is a white cotton which is very comfortable and flows nicely.
3.) The buttons are a brass/bronze color (not accurate but an bearable facsimile of antique buttons).

4.) buttonhole lining is okay white/gold-ish color (I may change it).

Here it is with the rest of my costume.


I enjoy how it looks! I would recommend this to others. This was sort of the last piece I needed for my OST costume, and overall I like how it turned out.

How long is their waistcoat, and how big is it when on?
Their old purple waistcoat is HUGE! Way too long in my opinion!
I'm 5 '9 and thier old one hung down to just above my knee!

Front is aprox' 33'' I ordered mine with the measurements of my old waistcoat (I dunno how much they charge for it), but it fits me nicely. I'm 5'9'' as well, so EW could potentially make it to fit. No I don't have any pics of it on, I will after Saturday though.

I got both Empires and Acme's OST waistcoats. I'm 5'9" and my chest size is 40 and I'm 180 pounds. I have Acme's version 2 one.

Here's my problem, Empires is to big and Acme's is smaller. Jack Sparrows waistcoat is NOT suppose to be buttoned. Acme's waistcoat has fuctional button holes, but you never use them.

I think the tabs on the back of the waistcoat is to help hold the waistcoat open. I'm I right on this? How is the waistcoat suppose to fit?

I hope I don't have to buy another waistcoat. Should I post pic's and let you guy's see them both?

In real life the waistcoat would be buttoned up and the tab/ties in the back is used to cinch up the garmet to fit you. Similar to a waist belt.

You should at least be able to get the edges of the waist coat to meet at the chest but not necessarily button. Also the back of the waistcoat has some poofing so it seems like it should be cinched up a bit.

Is there a more screen accurate waistcoat out there? because im 5' 10" and a 46 chest i have Empires potc waistcoat from them and it fits me fine i think there garments are for bigger chests only i guess thats why it fits me like a glove :O) if your 5'9" and 17th/ 18th century will hang close to your knees... LoL unless you get a seemtress to shorten it to look the correct length. Savvy!

If your looking for a waistcoat, for the COTBP, AWE, DMC look then look to Yordreem. OST look to ACME.
ACME is the best of all things Sparrow, he does not have a website, only sells on the bay. Maker of Hats, Baldrics, belts, buckles, rings, OST waistcoats, and a few limited runs of swords and compasses,( just to name a few) everything he does is TOP NOTCH! Puts all the sith world stuff to shame!
Yordreem makes an awesome COTBP, DMC, AWE waistcoat, nice blueish color, with a back fabric that is very close in design to the screen used fabric, great pocket flap design, and a real nice cut in shape and flair at the bottom.

Years back I made the mistake of getting the Empire waist coat, I thought it was a good deal, no one knew better at the time and his product descriptions make everything he sells seem SA and wonderful, then when you get it in hand it's like WTF?
I hated that vest and sold it off right away, Horrid purple satin lining, wrong buttons, terrible cut, ( like a big rectangle with arm holes cut in ) but what I hated the most was the fact that the back fabric is just a tan color with purple thread sewn in to try and replicate some sort of design, mine was even pieced together with 2 different fabrics top and bottom, the lines did not even match up, he says you can send him your measurements, but everything is all one size.

Thats what i was thinking off, so does acme brand have a site or not? because theres no potc waistcoat on his things to sell, just rings and ost baldrick.

ACME deals on Ebay. His runs are limited, so get them while theyre available. Better than the rest.
