Yup! Only met him a couple of times, but it's totally a small world, since he's all chummy with a lot of you CA Jacks, haha. Wicked costumer.

Chad's reply
I heard that the Disneyland Jack is wearing fabric that was made just for the park, I do have a contact but the one I have is printed, not embroidered. What I was going to do was order a swatch or two and embroider over the top---see what it looks like.
Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
embroider over a print? that's either insane or genius, lol

Seriously though, well done mate. That patience and attention to detail blows my mind.
And as for the print, callmemilo, that render is brilliant!
I'm hugely jealous. Interestingly however... I know a guy who claims to know where one can still get the "actual" fabric... and supposedly his information comes directly from Penny Rose... At present, that is all I know about it. I'm dubious of the results, being somewhat skeptical by nature about any claims made regarding this fabric, but I'm also extremely hopeful...
Thanks, although really I'm just lucky to have the time and equipment (and the chance to see the real fabric up close).
I'd be very sceptical about anyone who claims to have information directly from Penny Rose herself. From my onset dealings with her, and also from other stories I've heard, I'd say she's a bit of a "formidable" character, and didn't strike me as the kind of person who'd be especially approachable and amenable to giving away such information. That said I did make her smile a couple of times, so away from the pressurised confines of the working environment she could be more mellow.
Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
Interesting you should say so, because that's always the impression I got too (though mine was only from third-hand accounts, and the DVD special features, haha). This particular bloke was in more of an "I know a guy who knows a guy" situation. So looks like he attempted, and thought perhaps he COULD maybe get it from the source, but apparently was unsuccessful. All in all, not terribly surprising, but kind of a bummer nonetheless. Oh well, as previously stated, the hunt continues!
And I still say I wouldn't have had the patience to design and embroider that entire thing, so bravo, my good man!

Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
I guess I'm confuseded...is that printed or embroidered? I thought it was printed but now see it is embroidered.
If embroidered maybe we should split this thread out into a separate one called "Custom EMBROIDERED OST waistcoat material"
Mojo? I tried but don't know how to do that!

Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
Yes sorry it's my fault it's got mixed in here - it is embroidered - it kinda ended up here as I was talking about the pattern that I'd done to then embroider up the fabric!
Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
Hoping my printed fabric looks HALF as good as that, Simon. I guess we'll find out May 3rd when the Spoonflower order is scheduled to arrive

That's pretty impressive! I do not envy you for doing all that intricate cut-out work. Really nice result though. I wonder, if you could add a flocking effect this way too to simulate at least a different texture? Hmm

Re: Custom PRINTED OST waistcoat material
Ok I just received my order from Spoonflower, and needless to say, I'm SO much less than happy with it.
Here's the pattern I sent them...
And here's what I received....
Yep, I'm totally filing a complaint.
