Keep yer boots on!
After a few hours of Jack, I hate to have to hoist them up now and then.
What's your favorite tip to keeping yer boots up?

Stay Up!
Ahoy mate,
This is not specific to my experiences as the Captain, as I am currently in the midst of commandeering all the necessary items I need to begin such adventures, however, as an working actor, I have played many characters in stage productions that called for swashbuckling footwear. During rehearsals for the first show I did wearing stage boots that had the high shaft and bell, I too was having trouble keeping them up. I saw some of my fellow actors that would just allow the boots to fall very low and I did not care for that look. With little time before my first performance, my wardrobe assistant used some string and tied it around as tight as she could, this was less than successful, the second show she used extra long pip cleaners and twisted the ends together just blow my knee in the bend area of my leg. This worked alright, however, it was still not sturdy enough given the physical nature of the role - we ended up using a thin wire cord and wrapped it around multiple times and then twisted the ends. This worked very well, although and is what I have used since in other productions. I would recommend getting a cord that is coated so as not to cut threw your boots. There are more than likely other methods as well, this is just a quick method that has worked for me over the years - trial and error! : )

The answer be...bootstraps. Short belts (like around your jeans) that are buckled under the bell of the boot. You can source them ready made or buy belt blanks and buckles to weather to your own taste. Think their might be a thread on here or this on the Wiki:

I've never had to pull them up.... but they've also never been wet and I only wear them 1x a year.
Re: Keep yer boots on!
I actually use them to push mine down a bit and hold them in place to give them that crumpled look like Jack's boots have most of the time.
