Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Yup, I've got the tat. Got it right after I went to the p3 world premiere.
I don't regret it. Although, I wish I could redo it and have actually thought about getting it removed to be put right back on again. The SA Jack in me knows it's a little big and a little high up on my arm. Not a BIG deal, but if I ever somehow get ahold of the actual pattern Joel or Ve use to put the tat on, I think I'll go through the process of redoing it. Talk about a hard piece to upgrade.
It's a cool tat to have, but be sure you want it and be sure its as accurate as you want it. Some are very against it for personal reasons, like I wouldn't get Johnny's tattoo (bird facing inward) for that is a tattoo personal to him, but I do not have a problem with getting a character's tattoo.

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I've thought about the tattoo, but the ones I have I have designed myself and really like the uniqueness of them. Not that the Sparrow tattoo isn't cool, I just don't know if I would want to 'commit' quite that much...
For me, definitely staying in character is a big one... My earlier costumes weren't the greatest, but I always got by with the mannerisms, talk, walk, etc... And also, keeping my beard/goatee at all times. Never know when someone will want to have me be Jack for something...

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I've never, ever considered getting a tattoo. Not because of any moral objections, just because it didn't appeal to me. Both times I've worn the costume in public, I've had my wife draw the tatt on with a sharpie, and both times I've not wanted to wash it off. This past weekend, I suddenly found myself thinking... "what if...?"
But then, I start thinking about the permanency of it, and wonder if I'd regret it 20 years from now. I've been going back and forth on this for the last few days.

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I didn't get my first tattoo until I was after 30! Now I have 2 and have plans for at least 2 more...
Definitely give it some thought, as you're right, it's pretty permanent... Doing the temporary thing is a good gauge of whether you will like it or not, and it sounds like you're definitely considering based on that...
Tattoo's aren't for everyone, that's for sure! But if you do get one, definitely find a good artist! For something that permanent, you don't want to go cheap!

Well, I'm 33 this year, so it's good to know there are others out there like me who didn't think it was too late.
Also, sage words about not doing it on the cheap. I keep thinking "what if the guy sneezes, and I get a jagged line of ink all the way up my arm?!"

The Sparrow Tatoo
I'll have to say the tattoo. I'm getting mine for my birthday.
Am hoping to deals and get the desiderata back piece. Whole thing. FG studios said they could do it if I can bargain some photoshoots from it and promotion we'll see. fingers crossed.

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
That's awesome! My friends an I were just disscussion tattoos last night, which propted one of my friends to grab marker that looks like the color of tattoos, and start a "quick" sprarrow on my forearm. She's going to do a better one sometim soon.
I think this tattoo, a strange little emblem on my "lucky dollar bill", and the little dipper on my arm would be the only things I would ever consider as things I would ever get, and I would still have VERY serious doubts about them even then.
The little dipper would be interesting, because I have freckles that are in the shape of it, "polaris" is even bigger than the others.

Tattoo how to?
So I decided we need a there Jack tattoo(s) (he has more than one of course). Ill go first... My new rubber stamp I bought today.
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Very nice! I've got a rubber stamp for it too, but I've yet to find an ink that actually stays semi-permanently on my skin without coming off with sweat, etc. What ink are you using?
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I'm using A La Mode by hampton art. It's a dye ink pad, this stuff stays on no matter what!
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Rubber stamps? Can somebody tell me more about these? Pics of said stamps? Size? Price?
Thanks!
Thanks!

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Personally, I just sent a picture of the tattoo to a professional stamp-maker a friend of mine knows, and they had it custom laser cut for me.

Same except it's too small.... looks "fun size" I needed to add 1''X1'' more
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Yeah, I had that problem too the first time around. Got a bigger one now, but they reversed it. I guess it's technically screen-accurate, since they didn't bother to turn Johnny's actual tat around in the sequels, but still. Annoying.
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I have finally decided to get the tattoo done for real, but what I can't figure out is it blue or black. Cause in the first one when norington lifts his sleeve it looks bluish
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I'd say it's black mate.

Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
when it was fresh it was probably black but with years of sun abuse it would have faded to a blue-ish color. So it's really up to you. You could do a darker blue.
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
Yeah, black tattoos like that tend to fade to a blueish color, so I'd say to get it in black. Otherwise it might fade eventually to a lighter blue than you want. Unless you don't mind that, and figure you'll just get it touched up later. In which case I'd say sure, get the blueish tatto so it already has an "aged" look.
Re: The Sparrow Tattoo
I'll show the guy doing it a few pics and see what he says. now the decision to get it pointed the right way or the way of the sequels lol. (but I'll probably get it black that's what Mr. Depp has)
