Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
The feet are fine but the calf is alot bigger than I orderd possibly they took my measurement I gae them to be my actual calf not what I did was give some extra room. Possibly they took that as he needs some extra wiggle room? I don't know but again it's passable but with something that cost about 500$ it should be perfect!

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
That's my biggest beef with them. If I paid that much for them they should be exactly what I ordered. Period.
The stock boots always tend to have a really wide opening for the calf. That's been a complaint I've heard from a lot of people. Some people also have complained about this on the custom boots, even when they've given an exact calf measurement. Because of this, when I ordered my initial pair of custom boots I asked them what they usually did for the calf measurement. They told me that they take the measurements you give them and then add 1.5 inches onto that measurement in order to give you a bit of room to get your leg inside. I told them that I didn't want a ton of space up there, and that I would prefer only an inch instead of an inch and a half. They told me that wouldn't be a problem. The calf measurement I gave them was 15" around. When my boots arrived the opening for the calf was exactly 14". I literally couldn't even get my leg inside. When I told them about this, all they offered to do was to stretch them out. I don't know about you guys, but I don't think stretching a pair of boots that were over an inch smaller than they were supposed to be would do a heck of a lot of good.
So anyway, long story short, they clearly have had - and always will have - some very serious sizing issues with the calves of their boots.
I'm still perplexed on the rest of it though. They swore up and down that the ONLY way to get that rear seam and the double-thick bell was to order stock boots. I suppose it's possible that they've changed something (God knows they seem to change their story about everything every five minutes or so), but I just don't know. The heel and the shaft height definitely look custom though, so search me. Did you order the "pirate" toe, or the 2-inch "e" toe? My last post said 3-inch, but I meant the 2-inch.

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
I did the 2" pirate toe my costume is mostly dead man chest ( mainly become the shrunken head creeps me out lol ) but I looked and a lot of pics an to me the toe in alot of scenes looks more round the end of the boot is square the actual sole but to me In that fold the toe looks smashed and rounded sort of all personal preference I guess

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
Yes, we all know Caboots made the boots for DMC through OST, but what they sell to the general pirate public is not what we see in the movies. Go back and read through the beginning of this thread, read the horror of dealings. I don't know a single person that has gotten exactly what they ordered when ordering " Custom boots" Their so called " Pirate Toe" is not what is seen in the movies, some boot buyers are lucky to get the seem covered in the back, others not, some get the stitching around the bottom of the bell, others not. Caboots gives the customer the run around, ( oh, we don't do that, or, that is not on the screen used boots either, blah blah blah.) If you call them back and complain about your order not being what was ordered they will do their best to put you off, make it your fault. It happens all to often when dealing with Caboots. What we are looking for is a better alternative company to deal with so we can give Caboots the boot!spaarksUKsparrow wrote:Really you can not get any more accurate then CABoots they are the original makers of Captain Jack Sparrows boots.

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
If people are just going to complain and instead of being happy with paying out 375$ for the boots why bother spending that much in the first place...would seem a waste to spend that much only to complain about them later on. No ones ever happy even with a complete costume screen accurate, some will find a flaw in it. LoL
As for the remark on them being light weight oh hell no.. no way are they light weight, someone must of had a bad pair custom batch to complain that much....the thickness on mine are quite thick suede very heavy too specially on the bell.
Either buy the regular size and color or nothing at all simple :O) caboots never gave me the run around at all i got mine 2 weeks ago with in 5 working days they had my size in stock luckily and shipped them out very quickly and was in constant communication with the makers customer service guy.
I had no issues with CABoots at all, must be you lot... not being happy lol :OP.

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
Someone needs to find a manufacturer of leather cowboy boots in Mexico, Arizona, or Southern California that can have these made south of the border for a cheaper price and sell them at a higher price. That is the only way a profit will be made by the company that makes them.
I am sure if you took your CABoots into a boot making store along with pictures of JDs from the movies and asked for a pair of custom made boots you would be paying upward of $600 to $800.
The problem is finding a maker that can make them SA on the cheap without cutting corners which screws up the quality.

Congratulations, I'm glad to hear you are happy with your boots and that everything worked out for you. I really am. But for some of us, we got messed around and screwed over. Some of us more than once! Just because everything happened to work out for you and for a certain percentage of customers who either: a.) get a good pair, or b.) don't care about SA, that does not mean the rest of us received great service and what we ordered and what we specified to them.
Cheers!

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
I agree wholeheartedly with everything Captain Jack Sparrow 478 said.
Yes, CABoots holds the distinction of having made the boots for the movies, that's why we've bought from them. But the issue comes from the fact that their work seems to be incredibly inconsistent and they seem to have trouble filling custom orders to the specs that are given by the customers. This is a real problem when we're shelling out $300-400 for a pair of boots. I myself ordered a pair of Will Turner boots, but in brown, and they were nice enough to let me pay in installments. That was awesome! What wasn't awesome was once I was paid in full I was sent a pair of boots that were black instead of the brown like I had ordered. Plus I had asked that they have rawhide soles rather than rubber soles and yet the boots I received had rubber slip resistant bottoms added to the rawhide.
When I called and said the boots were black they tried to tell me it was a dark shade of brown and told me they'd remake them but I'd have to pay for the return shipping. Finally I negotiated for them to pay the return shipping (it was their error and not mine, after all) and sent them back. What I received next was a pair of brown boots as I had requested but still with the rubber slip resistant sole added which I had specifically asked them not to include. To some degree this had all worked to my advantage because apparently their boots run a half-size large so I was able to have the second pair made as a 10 1/2D instead of the original 11D which was too big. Rather than try to send the boots back I had a local boot shop remove the rubber slip sole, and all in all I'm quite happy with my boots.
The problem wasn't so much with the quality of the boots but with the service provided. I had been promised my boots would be ready by a certain date because of an event I was hoping to wear them to and yet the corrected pair arrived about 2 weeks later because my order had been "misplaced" the second time around. If this was a rare instance I would just write it off but far to many other customers have had similar problems with CABoots, some far worse than my story.
The boots I ordered were in the Will Turner style because it better suited the look I was going for with my personal costume. Now I am working on putting together a Jack Sparrow outfit and will no doubt order from CABoots again, but it is sad that is seems to be such a crap shoot with them. It looks like some positive changes may be taking affect at CABoots for the better in terms of their Jack Sparrow boots, but it still seems a somewhat risky endeavor doing business with them and one that, for the money, should not be the issue that it is.
I am pleased that you ran into no problems with them and are happy with your boots, but understand that as of yet you are still in the minority and it remains to be seen if the company has taken our issues to heart for good.

After all we are pirates. I think you would benefit from reading through the past forum posts, Spaarks. I'm not trying to be a jerk, but many of your questions have been answered in full in better ways than many of us will answer, and information is ripe for the picking! I think the phrase "After all we are pirates" has soured a lot of us due to a certain jhants who defaults to that.

Yep Caboots do this to people over and over again on all kinds of boots, not just Jack Sparrow boots. They messed me over twice, I don't think I'll risk ordering a third time!

Re: Caboots how accurate are they?
Ahoy all,
I am still in search of the perfect SA boot and am wanting to gauge how much interest is there out there for a new SA boot provider? If you are interested in upgrading to a better SA boot please let your voice be heard here. I really want to get this project up and running. I have been trying to get the ball rolling for several years.
Over the past year or so Jacks Adventures (a member on here) attempted to have boots made by the historical boot company known as Fugawee. We were very excited about this eventuality, but unfortunately this company did not end up coming through and did not complete a prototype. (Jacks Adventures you may wish to add to this and provide more details if you so desire).
I do however know of another company named Motor Cowboy (feel free to check out their website, they have many pictures of the quality boots they make of all kinds/times/genres). The owner has been very helpful in the past when I inquired about having some custom Jack boots made over a year ago. He seemed very keen to take on the project but would require pictures, specifications and personal measurements per order. These boot would be made to your custom/personal specifications.
I am interested to know how many out there would be interested in getting a run of boots going? I am also open to ideas of other vendors/boot makers out there who may be keen to take on the project.
I'd really appreciate as much input as possible from all of you folks that are interested.
Please comment, discuss, give ideas etc. I look forward to hearing from my fellow pirates. And go!!!...
Kind regards,
CJS 478
