Frock Coat Mk II
As my old coat weighed a tonne thanks to all the linings in it and having the pleats double the size they should have been, I've had a new one made so I don't die of exhaustion when wearing it! I've also upgraded the buttonholes to embroidered ones of the same colour as the originals. Of course thanks to SF Tailoring for actually making it and putting up with all my picky alterations the whole way through the process!

so beautiful. I am in the process of having my coat tailored as well. How do you keep the cuffs up? Are they stitched at all?
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
There's one holding stitch that goes through them. Although they're also stitched on at the button hole. From the stills I've seen I think one cuff has the holding stitch and the other doesn't. Although it probably just happened and never got fixed during filming!

Dang, I can't imagine how many doubloons that cost ya. Well, I can imagine but I'd rather not...yet I'm still curious to know lol. Probably waaaaaaay out of my budget, but maybe someday it won't be.

A lot... but I still think it's only my third biggest Jack investment behind the teeth and the wig! On the plus side it *sounds* less in good old British Doubloons compared to your US pieces of eight.

And with a bit of breaking down.
The belts aren't on the stand as they don't fit. The stand is designed for a slightly larger gentleman than me I think!

Wow, it looks amazing. Is it Ebony? Are you going to weather it now? I would hesitate making holes in that beauty... but I would probably do it in the end.

Yeah - it's the original fabric from LS, although I've just dyed some other stuff I got and it's probably much nearer the broken down stuff than the Ebony ever was!
I'll do some holes but then coat it in some sort of glue so it doesn't fray any further.

That's good to hear. I was curious how that material turned out, assuming it's the stuff you got from me.

It was tailored to fit my arms, so it's pretty perfect. Jack's coat is fairly fitted in that area. I just have to make sure I don't work out now!

lol, thats my problem. i hulked out of my costumebase after i altered it. jack isnt supposed to have lats.
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Nicely done. Unfortunately most of the other coat makers out there are still using the ole frock coat template that has tapered arms. Jack's frock coat NEVER had tapered arms so it is sad to see some still being produced that way.....

Well they have to taper slightly as they flair out to the depth of the whole cuff where they join, unless of course we're talking cross purposes?

do you have a visual example? I'm not sure what you're referring to
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Ditto... because I've also got some screen caps that clearly show a shape and indeed a flare to the arms down towards the cuffs. But maybe that's not what you're talking about, not sure. At any rate, this is a GORGEOUS coat. Good lord. I really, really, really wish I could afford her work, because it is, in my opinion, second to NONE. This looks downright amazing.
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Wow that is truly remarkable!!! Now I have something to model my own after when the time comes.

Thank you Thanks to all! Its nice to feel appreciated and to know all my hard work is paying off!! xxx
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Even though this strictly isn't frock coat related, I shot a couple of videos before Christmas so you should be able to see the whole costume now in 3 dimensions... of sort (well 2d + movement) There's a good shot of me walking away from camera so you get a good view of how the coat swings here.
Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Wow. Very cool, Simon. The wardrobe is looking as fantastic as ever!

Re: Frock Coat Mk II
Anyone know if it is humanly possible to get ebony raffia from anywhere?
I really would prefer a coat made of the real deal fabric. I have been searching far and wide.
Cheers all!
P.s. Great shots Simon as always! You the man!
