Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
looking good mate!! I grew mine because I do not want to have to glue on a beard and mustache. They just never look as good as the real deal. It took a while for mine to grow and I hated it at first. I have even wanted to shave it off, but now my mates tell me to keep it for Jack. Oh, Just for Men works really good for me too.
Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
A man walks down the street in that hat, people know he's not afraid of anything.
Anyway, lookin' good Mojo! Keep going! Stay the course! It quite suits you, I think. Just needs to be a smidge longer to be "SA," haha.
Oh, and Jag - I actually got mine at a local costume shop. I got a really enormous walrus moustace that I cut down a ton to get it the right size, and then a long "Uncle Sam" style beard that I (with much, much, much help from Sarah (and almost as much swearing and frustration)) braided into the proper look. And yeah, that was a parenthetical statement inside another parenthetical statement. What?
Anyhow, I'd say for what they were, and the fact that they were basically jury rigged, it turned out pretty well. I just wish I had gotten some pics.

I'm going to have to do the same thing. Turns out my facial hair isn't the same brown as my head. I've inherited a slight strain of genetics from my oddball red-headed uncle (only one in the family), so my braids don't match!!

Applying the beard extensions
Ok, so I used a Ms Mazie in the past,
.....and that was gluing netting onto smooth skin and now I feel like the extensions are a little harder.
How do I glue the sewen braid onto my skin which is covered with beard hair? I have Tel 5, Liquid Latex and Spirit gum and I am still leaning towards Tel 5 as the way to go. My wife does have eye lash glue, but that is still meant to glue against skin.
Should I shave a smooth patch to glue the braid to? I am thinking the answer lies in having my wife do it, so that she can carefully see where it needs to go, rather than just me mashing the braid into my beard.

Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
I part my beard a little so I can see a bit of skin and I apply duo eyelash adhesive to the braid, wait for it to get tacky and stick it up onto the parted section of the beard, then I carefully wrap some surrounding hair around it to make it look natural.
Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
I do almost the exact same thing, only I apply the Duo adhesive to my skin instead of the braids.
Well... okay, to be honest I've done both. But both methods work perfectly well. I like Duo because it doesn't pull out too much of your hair when you take it out. It's pretty inevitable that you'll get a little in your beard though. Just a fact o' life.

Hands down, the best you've ever looked as jack! Nicely done mate!
Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
WHY DIDN'T WE THINK OF THIS? I asked Brandon Hillock how he does his beard extensions and listen to this...
Mine are literly roach clips with hair glued over them, i put a little hair spry in my beard and they clamp right on. I have had them for 5 years now and still use them, they're fast and awesome, I have never used the glue system. Going to have too soon though the more sword fighting I keep doing the more chance they are gonna go flying off if I dont get glue ones like in the movie
Re: The Epic Tale of Mojo's Beard...
I never thought of using clips. They would have to be small. I just colored my beard and will braid it tomorrow.

I use spirit gum and then clip them in once it has dried you can remove the clips but I usually just leave them in there is no chance at all that try will come out I had a kid yank on one and she ripped one of the beads out but the braid took it like a champ! If your hair is long enough it is easy to hide and no one will ever know you have them clipped in

Hah! Y'know, I had thought of doing something similar a LONG time ago, but never actually did it because I was afraid it wouldn't work right or that they would show. Well, looks like I got my answer! Brilliant! I very well may have to try this.

Which Telesis 5 product do you guys use? The Telesis 5 Silicone Adhesive? Or the Telesis 5 Silicone Matte Lace Adhesive?
I'm wondering which one to get.
