Beard and moustache adhesive
So I recently shaved, but have a party coming up next weekend and plan to use my Maize beard and moustache set. The thing is, the last time I used it I just used regular spirit gum and it worked out well enough, but it made moving my face a bit difficult. And it did start to peel from sweat but luckily not until I was on my way home from the event. Anyway, I knkow many of you who use the Maize set have had good success with the Telesis 5. I saw on FX Warehouse that they have a special silicone based adhesive that doesn't get hard and moves with your face. It's pricey (about $55) and was wondering if any of you had used it before. Or if you've used the regular Telesis 5, how has your experience been wtih that?
Thanks for the input!!

SWAGARTS recommends liquid gold and it is NOT expensive

and Zach used procalim (look at the ingredients! ) he said it was rock solid

Any idea how they work as far as flexibility on the face? And how badly do they gum up the lace mesh? It was quite a process getting the spirit gum out of the lace, even with the spirit gum remover.
And it's okay on bare skin?

Just remember that whatever you use be sure to apply some sort of "blocker" to prevent your sweat and skin oils from messing up the adhesive qualities of whatever you use.
Also be sure to get the clean up kit for the adhesive as well. Usually the clean up liquid breaks down the bonds of the adhesive so that your prosthetic devices can be reused over and over.
I'd stay away from spirit gum because it drys fast and cracks. It also reacts to your sweat/oils and breaks down. Not good for long periods of time meaning more than an hour or so.
Go with adhesive that is specifically designed for meshed back facial hair. Apply the adhesive to your face and add the mesh facial hair immediately. The drying of the adhesive around the mesh is what you need to have happen.
If you plan on Jacking for awhile without facial hair and using the prosthesis I still highly recommend the Telesis 5 route. It is expensive but it will be worth it in the long haul especially if you are Jacking around alot.
The links Mojo provided are really good products if you are planning on bonding hair to hair. Meaning beard braids to your own beard. Not recommended for mesh to skin use. Check to make sure you are not allergic to latex first though.

....ouch....
So, I went ahead and got Telesis, but I got the 7 rather than the 5. I know it's not as good, but hopefully with the skin barrier it will be good enough. Next payday I plan to get the Telesis 5 Matte Adhesive and Thinner, but I just couldn't swing it this time. However, since I will probably need to use the fake beard and 'stache for a bit and do have a number of gigs coming up I will need them for the future.

Which is better for gluing beard braids onto your own beard, the normal telesis 5 silicone adhesive or the telesis 5 silicone matt lace adhesive?

I think the matte is geared more for appyling mesh backed appliances (fake beards and staches) whereas the others are more general purpose. Personally, I have always just used spirit gum with my braids when I had a goatee, and even through some serious sweating (a full on swordfight skit in 100+ degree weather...fun...) I never lost one. But going on my now baby bare skin, I'm a bit worried.

T5 the best! No need to buy the thinner! Just get the Barrier and Clean Up. I got the liquid and gel clean up. Gel works better on your skin.

Re: Beard and moustache adhesive
Ah well... Already placed the order... But, like I said, with the extra money from this gig I'm going to invest in the Telesis 5 Matte Lace adhesive, as well as a BROWN moustache and goatee that I can dye dark brown to look more realistic. The Maize is nice but just too dark...
I just hope the Telesis 7 works well enough to get me through the gig - it's only an hour but swordfighting 65 kids (!!!) is going to get the sweat going...

Re: Beard and moustache adhesive
So, I got the Telesis 7 in time for las Saturday's gig. The good news is that I realized that even with a few days of stubble on my face, by darkening it it looked like a full stache and beard so I didn't need the fake set. Even up close it was pretty convincing, and even when I had my full stach and goatee I had to darken the hair anyway since I have lighter hair.
The only thing I was worried about was the beard braids as the hair wasn't long enough to really attach to them. But I used the Telesis barrier and the Telesis 7, and all was good. Even drenched in sweat after swordfighting 65 kids in 85 degree heat, they stayed on without any problem.
I'm a Telesis man for life, now!
