I'll move this into the OST merch thread in a second, but wanted you mates to see this.... Target is getting an OST endcap. Mostly lego right now, but it had two "swish sound" swords and this dress up set that includes: pieces of gold, crappy felt hat, temp tattoos, the AWE map and 3 of Jack's rings:

Well, it was hardly ever gonna be HIGH quality was it, lol. That said, I'd like to see someone mod these into something a lil more authentic looking.

Yea I saw that same exact set over at Walmart a couple weeks ago. I was curios what toys would be released, in hopes of a new sword or pistol to use for costuming, but this movie's toy selection is kinda lack luster this time around.

I don't get why people hate 3D so much!!!

For me it's the glasses. It never seems to fail that halfway through the movie they start to feel uncomfortable and I end up taking them off for a few minutes, all the while looking at a blurry mess on the screen. Plus, it seems like colors get kinda muted through those lenses. This isn't so much a problem with Pixar movies or something like Avatar, since the CGI is so bright and vibrant, but for movies shot on practical sets.... it just never looks the same to me.

Now, show me glasses-free 3D technology, and I'd be all over it!

I've had my eye on this set for a few weeks, but not for myself. I think my not-quite-3-year-old would have a blast with it! I gave him the little skull ring that came with my Disney Store compass set and he wore it to Disneyland before dropping it in the water on Tom Sawyer Island, right next to the bone cage. Now whenever we go back there, he insists on showing me where he dropped his pirate ring.

Possibly this Saturday, Real 3D, Black Carpet Event Disneyland, CA (still waiting until the very last minute!) - Definitely no costume allowed since we will be sitting with the stars!!
Next Saturday, Pirate Fan Event Hollywood and Highland, Real 3D, El Capitan Theater - London, England Jack! Fully loaded all the way to the frock coat but may vary depending upon the weather due to our recent heat spell!

Remember that email that was going around with the survey?

Remember I complained about filling it out and then them telling me I didn't qualify 'cause I was Canadian?

And then remember I said I lied when I took it again and put in a US zip code? MUAHAA

It worked! I got selected ( though I'm sure most did ) ! And today I got an email for an 'exclusive featurette'! What an excellent morning!!!

It was a lot of familiar stuff with a handful of new things thrown in.

The report back from a friend about the Real 3D is that it wasn't bad but of course there are a few campy 3D effects that were added for the purposes of being campy. Example like the ole 3D effect of something coming out at you from the screen as in something really pointy????!!! You can figure it out.

Dark parts of the movie were extremely dark because of the glasses. That is going to be the norm for most 3D movies. I would really like to see it in Imax 3D since it is a different technology.

the most useful out of that set is the Amethyst ring and Dragon ring
with a touch of paint the dragon ring can look really good, its what i used for the longest time till i go the MR one

Yeah... ultimately here are the reasons I don't like 3D movies:

1. I hate how dark the glasses make everything. It's like wearing sunglasses into a movie. Can't stand that. I want my colors to POP, and the glasses just make everything look dull. And especially with this film, where so much looks like it's going to be in the dark or at night, I'm not thrilled with this prospect.

2. If you aren't sitting EXACTLY in the center front, the 3D always seems... off.

3. To go along with this, even when I AM sitting front and center, I still come out feeling cross-eyed, with a slight-to-not-so-slight headache. I don't have eye problems, I just don't like feeling cross-eyed. That's how it feels to me - like I've been staring at one of those magic-eye posters for two and a half hours.

4. I find the 3D distracting. Sometimes I want to see the detail in certain scenes, or I just want to focus on the plot or dialoge in a particular expositional scene. To me, the 3D does nothing for this.


The only time I ever actually WANTED to see a movie in 3D was How to Train Your Dragon, just for the flight scenes alone. How amazing that would've been! Unfortunately, I never got that chance. So yeah, not thrilled about the 3D here.

I am not a big fan of 3-D either, for a lot of the same reasons as Capt. McCool has stated... It can be cool in parts, but overall, I am still not sold on the technology... I have yet to see anything *wow* me with 3-D... Some cool stuff, to be sure, but not cool enough to pay more money to see in 3-D... Although, it's hard to find a movie around my are that DOESN"T play in 3-D... Grrrrr....

As for the movie, I will be seeing it Saturday at Disneyland! It will be in 3-D and outside... I am very interested to see if that affects the viewing at all, for better or worse... Either way, it's going to be a great time!

Like Pirate Daddy said above, if they made a glasses-less 3D, I think I may be more inclined to try it... as long as it didn't involve crossing my eyes, heh.

And actually, I very well may invest in those 2D glasses! Those things are hilarious and totally brilliant all at once!
