Metal/Timber flintlock build.
Hey Mates.
I've been doing some serious groundwork on a project of mine, mainly making a fairly heave ho accurate, non firing flintlock as wielded by Captain Jack.
I would have purchased one from Forgotten seas, or even the base model of Kentucky flintlock, but getting any sort of replica firearm imported into Australia is a huge pain in the booty. So I bought a George washington flintlock that a friend of mine had, and I've scavenged the Lockplate, mechanisms, trigger and guard and ramrod off it, and have ripped apart a zizzle knock off to cast up.
I'll update the whole thread with pics of most stages, but to begin with.....
Not polished yet, just a black wash in the details. This is also my first attempt at casting in metal, and not resin. I'm pretty proud honestly!

Looks good. I still have to learn casting, have a couple of the side plates and caps for a real gun build. Parts are in "German Silver", which I'm told is neither German, or Silver! But they are nice parts and come from Muzzle Loader Builders Supply. Working...slowly...on a firing model of the Perry pistol.

How did you end up casting the buttcap? What did you use as your source, the Zizzle buttcap?
