Indy Magnoli Sword
I could not be more pleased, this is a great product. Wonderful weight, beautiful colors and nice and "sword-y." This is my first Indy Magnoli product, but it certainly fits the bill as to what I have heard from his work in the past. Here are a few glamour shots to wet your whistle

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
I do not recommend doing this you could wreck your sheath.
I used a towel and fine sandpaper to rub off the black dye. Then I sprayed WD40 over it to even out the hard lines and smooth the color.
Front and back
Now I am coating the entire thing in a leather sheane to protect it.

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
That came out great! About how long did it take for your sword to arrive once it shipped, Mojo?

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
3 coats of leather finish and then a top coat of peanut oil
Can I go on record as saying that I have the weirdest "gear" of any Jack? I bet NOBODY on Earth has MY same set up:
Baldric Buckle - Darcie
Baldric Leathers - Jack of All Trades
Conchos - Undead Monkey (can't wait for my new ones Charles)
Sword and scabbard -Indy Magnoli

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
Not sure how the plastic one is attached, but once removed the metal post type will usually just screw right in.
I would swap it out with one of these from Tandy Leather,
Button Stud
Strike that reverse it, After I thought about it, you can't use the screw type, because the scabbard is all ready assembled all the way,
You'll have to use the type UM posted, as it is a rivet type, you will have to be able to get the rivet back into the scabbard though, and not sure how much room you have, but I think you could slip it in sideways and drop it down into the hole, then just tap it together.

I think I will go with... leave it alone then since I am not a leathersmith OR a good costumer.
Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
For those who have not yet ordered a sword, any chance Indy that these scabbards can begin to be made with metal button stud/post etc and not a plastic one?

By the way....don't get your sword blade wet. It will rust instantly.
Need to seal this bad boy up so it won't start rusting with just a hint of moisture....

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
UPDATE: pulled my sword out of sheath that was kept in hot garage and the blade had rusted! Quickly sprayed the whole thing with WD40 and brought it in doors.
Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
Yeah keep these things oiled... carbon steel and moisture are not friends.
Only about 30 of these swords left... then they'll all be gone. If anyone is interested drop me a line!

For those who missed out, we've done a "mini-run" of more swords: http://www.brethrencourt.net/t1472-jack-sparrow-swords-mini-run-for-those-who-missed-out#13524
Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
Indy, your sword looks awesome!!! Would have liked to have taken a stab at it! (eye-rolling pun intended) However, this past weekend my wife ordered the Windlass Pirate Captain's Hanger for me as a gift as I slowly update my Halloween CJS costume to a higher quality, SA-ish costume. I apologize for posting this under the Indy sword thread, but since my gift sword has already been ordered (and now received), can anyone provide links to weathering techniques to get my new highly-polished-to-a-mirror-finish sword to look more like Indy's? Thanks!

Re: Indy Magnoli Sword
Thank you, Blade Savvy! That Wiki site is a godsend. I started using the techniques linked on the Wiki last night. Using the salt/vinegar method. So far, the blade is looking nice and aged with a dark patina. Have lots more work to do on it, but I will probably start me own thread on the process rather than derail this thread. Thanks.
