Re: Perry london "knockoff"
It's certainly cool - yea, we have that link on the wiki. "Worth" and value are only relevant if you think it's worth it. It's an actual firing gun that looks like Jack's - so it's pretty sweet. I had asked him at one time if he could make an unfiring replica - and he can, but the cost isn't that much less. I think it was a difference less than $100.
If you got the skills to make your own flintlock (and the tools) go for it. It's always more fun to make something yourself and the parts are out there.

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
You know what would be cooler than owning said pistol?
Shooting it!
(well, filming yourself shooting it and posting it to youtube dressed as Jack)

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
that would be cooler, but what about pretending your drunk, have a pirate friend stand with an apple on his head, look all serious line up the shot than pass out while dressed as jack himself

...funny. Or in a drunken stupor, right at the last minute SHOOT your friend, and he dies... you walk over like Jack, pick up the apple and take a bite.

I don't think there would be much in the wallet... though I do agree Jack would take it anyways. And I totally want to do a YouTube skit of this now. But I'm lazy... sooo... someone else do it!

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
I'm honestly surprised Wade hasn't done something just like that by now. He's had a firing replica of Jack's pistol for ages. Way before Jeff McKay offered them through his website.
I'd love to get one of those, but my gripe is that they're not 100% accurate, because he left off all the engraving on the metal parts, and the carving on the stock. I totally understand why he did that (if he hadn't they'd have been a LOT more expensive), but I'm not sure I want to pay 500 bones and still have to mod it to be accurate.
That being said, it's still REALLY tempting...

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
If I may be your party-pooper. Definitely get the shooting/working version but if your going to test it out use less fine ground powder and a small ball bearing for the shot. Why? Because the lead shot, similar to a fishing weight, can change size, shape etc due to its being soft. A ball bearing will be tighter and also heavier but don't force it in the barrel it should be able to fall halfway on its own. Keep your actions clear and check the flint and lock before and after use. Flint's secured aye mates? otherwise your eye may get a taste of something sharp and flintish.

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
I'd love to have either one, but would be a little frightened to actually fire a working flintlock pistol!

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
They are great fun to fire, actually a lot safer than the muskets especially if you just get a flash in the pan. You won't burn your eye out anyway. It's just not as accurate but an excellent pistol. Never fired a bad one.
Still waiting on my double barreled flintlock to come back from the smithy. on youtube aint gonna know whats hit it hehe

I was in the Army and fired many weapons, but the idea of stuffing a barrel full of black powder is still a little unsettling to me.

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
I was in the RAF for a short while; a flintlock won't come close to a good solid tank smasher round but I love them. Personally the only gun I hate before its been fired is the matchlock musket used by our Parliamentarians and Royalists during the Civil War. Terrible gun, weighty, accuracy non existent, rains then the match goes out, can't move at night because your lit up, loud, smokey.
I think a pistol is a gentlemans weapon. Used by the greats from duelists to officers to highwaymen

Re: Perry london "knockoff"
That Wade is a Lazy Jack.....ZZzzz What!?! I never thought about it before. I have used my pistol in other shows (not as Jack). I just never thought about it. But now that being said, the hard part is in the doing. So busy with music stuff.Captain McCool wrote:I'm honestly surprised Wade hasn't done something just like that by now.
