ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
September is upon us which means October 31st is right around the corner. How can the global village that is TBC help you put together a KICK @$$ Jack Sparrow costume in time?
What parts do you need?
Advice do you need?
What can the elves of TBC do to make your Jack experience the best one it can be?

Re: ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
I just busted out my gear and noticed that my breeches fit really..... really well.... which means I am seriously cutting back on beer until Halloween. Also I think the last time I wore everything I just threw it back into the garment bag, so my wife is dead set on ironing my effects.
Re: ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
Just ordered the beard braids from Swag Arts...any advice/tips on what/how I should use to bond them to my natural beard?

Re: ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
I only need pelts and to finish my wig now!
For my wig...I might just make the blonde dreads removable, and just stuff some blonde hair in the back pony tail. That way I can go back to AWE when ever I want, and I can still use my wig as a base for whatever they change in POTC V.

Working on aging by white shirt...figured the most natural way to do would be to just leave it out on my porch for the next month in the wind and rain XD

Do you think you'll be Jack this year?

Just need to finish my boots. I only have toy compass and it's not converted though. Don't think I will have time to do it. Hoping that a good one will be available before the day! Other than that I'm pretty much there.

I think I'll have to join your "long-term" costume builders club Jodo. I think I started looking into making a costume about 2+ years ago. I bought my first costume piece just over 2 years ago, a MR sword. Then I didn't really buy anything else until ACME released his new OST sashes back in February. I have quite a few items now, but I am still a long ways away from having anything near completion. I am hoping I'll have a lot more done by Halloween in 2012 and perhaps by then there will be new hype for a possible next movie by then.
Here's to hoping.

Same mate, I've been working on this costume for about 2 years but it always seems like there's something that needs improving/acquisition. I'm hoping to get a leather baldric, metal sword, and leather boots at some point in the near future...

Re: ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
Hahaha, thanks! I didn't get to take any pictures that night, so I'm stealing them off of FB.
I need to weather my sash and shirt really bad. I had forgotten about it, but I also need to put my other items in the wig as well.

Re: ARCHIVE: Halloween 2011
Just wanted to remind everyone that we, over at the Castaway Trading Company ( http://www.etsy.com/shop/CastawayTradingCo ) are still offering our hand stitched (and if requested, hand-distressed) Captain Jack Sparrow flag, and if you order now, we can still ship it out to you in time for Halloween (for those of you who live in the US, at any rate). We've also got lots of fun zombie-pirate gear, and other buccaneer-related paraphernalia! Very unique stuff! And, as an interesting note, the pouches we are currently offering are in fact made out of overstock leather from the production of the Pirates of the Caribbean films. I swear I'm not pulling your leg! One of the members of our shop makes his living buying and selling film costumes on eBay (you can check out his eBay store here: http://www.ebay.com/sch/ace5thranger/m.html?_nkw=&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=&_trksid=p3686 ), and a lot of the items he gets are leftover fabric and leather scraps used in production. So we've decided to use a bunch of that otherwise wasted material to create unique pirate merchandise. Thought you guys might be interested in that little tidbit
