On Stranger Vests....
Well Charles said that EW had a new vest fabric that I would love to see, but I hope it's better than.... THIS!
http://cgi.ebay.com/Pirates-Caribbean-4th-Jack-Sparrow-Costume-Vest-/110706422094?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item19c69df14e
Still for the price and the look.... it could be heavily modded.

Re: On Stranger Vests....
The EW fabric (its only a picture of the sample that was sent to him by his supplier) looks fantastic! It looks identical to the Hot Topic display vest.

Re: On Stranger Vests....
EW sent an email to the people who were in for Angelica fabric...
I like the thread color, and the blue looks spot on.
Attached you will find two photos:
1)Jack Sparrow's OST screen worn vest on display
2)The supplier's cut sample of OUR production run of the same OST vest fabric
Again, I'm not offering this at this time, I need to ensure I have these in hand and to my liking before I consider offering them. We'll see how it goes over the summer.
I'm also working on a few items as well.
Any questions, concerns, please let me know, again sorry for the inconvenience.
Cheers

Re: On Stranger Vests....
So when is EW's schtuff going to be available? I guess he says not yet in what you quoted from him, but I'm gettin kinda anxious...yet I don't want to be the guinea pig and be the first one to buy his fabric, lol. Also, I'm a bit scared to know how much he's going to charge for that fabric. Looking at how he's got some breeches currently up for $140 makes me a little uneasy at how high he'll charge for the vest. But then again, no pain, no gain when it comes to screen accuracy, right?

Re: On Stranger Vests....
The EW definitely looks better than what else is available, but unless I could see it a little closer up I can't be sure it's the screen used stuff - it has a very distinct texture to the silk. The colours look right though.
Re: On Stranger Vests....
Sometimes you gotsta be happy with what ye got!
Unless these vests will be priced at lower dollar value than what I spent on my current waistcoat I think I will stick with what I got.
If the price is reasonable and there is alot of fabric available I may consider a back up but I have a strange suspicion that we may be seeing a costume change for POTC 5!

Care to elaborate? Or, is it a *SECRET* ?
Re: On Stranger Vests....
Costume change IMHO not anything I have heard, read, seen, etc.
Since OST was a start to finish standalone story I have a feeling Jack will make another costume change for a new story.
Again just my opinion.
Besides who knows whether or not they still have that material leftover for future waistcoats OR even if POTC 5 will be made........

Re: On Stranger Vests....
Maybe he'll be vestless...?
Picture it...A tan Captain Jack rowing his dingy alone in the open seas when a ship full of wanton female pirates fetch him outta the water! No vest needed for that!

Re: On Stranger Vests....
well if he does get a new waistcoat I hope for a different colour, now it looks to cartoon-ish

Re: On Stranger Vests....
I have it on personal authority that Jack will be changing vests for the new movie Pirates 6 (I even know the new title, but can not release it yet until my friend says it's ok), but from what he (it might be a she) has told me, Johnny loves to get involved in his costuming and has already said that he would prefer a new vest... I am hoping to get a sample pic before....
Oh man, I just can't do it!!!! I can't lie!!!!

So you lied to us by telling us the truth? That's good, I'm definitely going to use that

Re: On Stranger Vests....
and you removed all the button hole trim, ( 1 because it is facing the wrong way, 2 because it is too wide, 3 they have too many button holes on the pockets yet only 3 buttons per pocket??? ), changed out the back material for something better and weather the heck out of it, it could look somewhat 1/2 way good to more better!

Re: On Stranger Vests....
would it really be 'worth it' though? I wonder if you could get them to just send you a vest, not put together yet..
Re: On Stranger Vests....
Well, considering that most people are selling reproduction fabric for something like $150 a bloody yard... yeah. It would probably be worth it, heh.
But I'm a bit dubious of how that shiney, obviously-synthetic screen-printed material would weather.

I wonder how much it would be without the blood on it. Or is that part of the weathering process?
