Heavily modded Elope (PIC HEAVY)
I've always felt that the brim of the Elope is far too large so with this hat I took about an inch off of the circumference of the brim, cut and re-set the shaping wire and replaced the "French edge" and I believe it turned out fantastic but what do you think?....

No doubt: Much better than before. The weathering and the colour are perfect. In my opinion, the tip of the tricorn is a lot better now, but not perfect in the end. But: I think, you did a great job and it has turned into a really well modded hat and no more or other changes were possible with this elope as a starting point.

Thanks!
Funny you should mention the tip because I totally agree. After examining the photos last night, I made some adjustments to the tip and it looks a lot better now. Will post some pics later.

I need a hat and seeing these pics makes me really wanna go out and get one of those Elope ones just to see if I can make it look good. Your mod turned out really great!

Thanks
Cutting it and replacing the wire was more of a headache then it was worth as it didn't make that much of a difference but if you are going to cut it, do that first and re-set the wire and french edge. If you're careful when you remove the french edge you can maintain the look of stitching by gluing it straight with the old stitch holes.
If you haven't already shaped it that would be my next step (I find glue really helps make it listen to my demands)
I mix black and brown acrylic paint creating a very dark brown (about 3 parts black to 1 part brown).
Hold the hat with my left hand and smudge away with my right (may help to have a photo for general reference/inspiration)
After a quick drying period I then start coating it with the PU spray wait about 10-15 min between coats and once it's done and dry (wait overnight to be sure) I buff it with high grit sand paper where ever I feel it shines too much.
Hope that helps

Re: Heavily modded Elope (PIC HEAVY)
Very nice! We're on the same page, HIGH5orDIE . I'm working on cutting one down myself.
I'm doing a new elope mod and am trying to get the basic dimensions the same-ish as a Pieroni hat. Like what is the real length from front tip to back corner and the height of the brim? Anyone know?
now to try and figure out the best way enlarge the inside for my big noggin
