Modded my hat
I modded my Elope to hold me off until I can grab a nicer one.

Wow nicely done! My friend has one of these hats that she doesn't want anymore, I may take it from her and mod it to use for the time being.
What did you do to mod it and how long did it take?

Thanx
Shaped it as much as it would listen and used glue to make it stay where it wouldn't.
I pulled the stock cross stitch material and replaced it with hemp twine I dyed with a black/brown mix of acrylic paint.
Using that same mix I dirtied the hat up until it looked Jack-ish but unfortunately it was very dull so I hit it up with some spray Polyurethane which also made it look more leather-ish BONUS
I sprayed about 6-8 coats on each side and was done and dry in 2 hours, but then it was too glossy but a SMALL amount of sanding with some fine sandpaper cooled that gloss down to my satisfaction.
