I use the creme makeup i posted earlier, and a triangular makeup sponge. After I lightly and evenly apply the dark brown, ( LIGHTLY AND EVENLY, so as to look like natural tan, not faux tanner) I try to get a good amount onto one broad flat edge of the sponge. I then suck my cheeks in ever so slightly to see where the gaunt cheekbones need to be. With the sponge, I apply an obvious dark line from the tops of the cheekbones to my smile lines near my mouth, and then work DOWN the cheeks with the sponge, so it creates a gradient from the dark line. The line I created will be worked in until its subtle. I also apply this same technique to my eyebrow area to make it look a little more sunken. Does this make sense?

I've put this picture in my WIP thread but also thought I'd put my first make-up attempt here for you to all have a chuckle at:-

This was my very first attempt at putting make-up on my face and my second go at eye-make up.

Reasonably pleased for a 1st attempt

Okay, since the world of costuming and makeup is pretty much new to me, I have another question. Since every Jack's face is different from the next one, and all are different from Johnny's, obviously there are going to be different techniques needed to try and make our faces look similar to Johnny's. Has anyone here ever enlisted the help of a professional makeup artist to figure out what processes and techniques best suit your face and make you look the most like Johnny/Jack? I'm sure it's probably expensive, but I'd be interested in at least exploring the option. I think it would be neat to have a makeup artist sit you down, apply his/her craft to make you look just like Johnny/Jack (or a close approximation), and along the way teach you all the specific steps and techniques that best suit your face.
