Dying or Bleaching Human Hair Wigs

I am going to work on making an On Stranger Tides wig and I can't find a decent dip dyed or highlighted wig to use for a base wig. So I was wondering if any of you have had experience bleaching and dying human hair wigs to get the color that you want. I was thinking of buying a medium brown human hair wig and then adding the highlighting myself so that it isn't overly high lighted and so that the color looks like it was more natural.

Although I think something like This may work pretty well.

Here is what I did. Start by using a lighter color hair and than make it darker at the required area.

For the straight strands in my OST wig I used medium blonde human hair and Clairol hair dye to darken the ends and blend the dark to light.

I've tried all the different methods out there from Cosplay (alcohol with permanent markers, ink dyes, etc.) and nothing works correctly to make it appear real.

Also just get a brown wig and buy some blond hair wefts. Sew them into the wig.

There is a wig that already has blonde in it at my local beauty supply store. Kinda like what you did with the blonde wefts. It is brown on top with some rows of blonde in it, kinda Like This but with a little less blonde in it and wavy. Would that work?
