Ya, untrustworthy for sure, I filed my PayPal complaint,
And now it has escalated to a claim, so far they have not
answered any of mine or paypals emails to state their side
of the transaction, I really thought they would bust them out
and reply with a tracking number. They have 7 more days,
then it's up to PayPal!

Glad you got it filed in time!

I've been burned too many times by being too patient and polite on various transactions with various vendors.

Well, Black Bear still has not responded to PAYPAL, and they do have until tomorrow, then their time is up, and I get my money back,
but I did get an email from them responding to the email I sent over 2 weeks ago
Quote Black Bear
Good morning, I am not sure what has happen to your order. They may have gotten put back into our inventory and not into the shipping line. We will check on them as soon as we get back from our event this next week. guaranteed by the end of the month. We are also trying to recover from the Blackbeard Pirate Fest Tornado. Thank you for your patience in this matter. Rick Blizard.

WOW! REALLY??? Grumpy They could not have checked the 6 or 7 times I called them to check on it? I bet others have gotten similar response! I hope they don't respond to PAYPAL as at this time, I just want my money back, I wanted them for NorCal Pirate festival, end of month is way to late, and their site says all orders usually ship within 2 to 4 weeks, custom orders up to 6 . And now I already have a new pair on the way from Fort Downing Trading Co. that was sent out yesterday.

Finally, After no responses to PayPal, PayPal concluded their investigation and have decided in my favor. I was able to get my money back!

It was nice to be able to get my money back,
But I would have rather they sent the Breeches!

Good grief! Seriously! I hate it when stuff like this happens. Basically the same thing happened to Sarah and me with PirateMod. Only they did eventually send us our order - after SEVERAL months of excuses about how they were behind because of trying to organize the NorCal Pirate Festival (ironically, the owners of PirateMod are heavily involved in that particular event, which is why I'm happy it's a free festival, because I really want to go, but I'll be damned if I ever give those people another cent of my money). In the end, they grossly overcharged us for shipping, then wrapped our order in a tiny envelope that was literally falling apart when it arrived. And in the end they didn't even get the order completely right. So on that level, I think I would've just preferred my money back. Count yourself lucky on that note at least, heh. They could've shown up and been destroyed or something. It's probably better that you ordered the other pair anyway (and as far as I know, Fort Downing's breeches DO indeed have pockets, so that's a plus!)

You had problems with Pirate Mod too?? I have had problems with them and so did a close friend of mine! I never received all of my order, when it arrived the box was totally smashed on one side, and the tape was coming off the other, and hers took forever to arrive, and when it finally did show up, part of it was wrong and she was missing half her items too. When she called them, they basically told her off, and that she was wrong. Then she called again and emailed them a copy of the " Invoice" in her order, and they told her they would send what was missing as soon as they had it back in stock, well that was 3 years ago now and she has never seen anything!

I tried to order the Curse of the Black Pearl Aztec coin from Pirate Mod a few years ago (the expensive Master Replicas version that came with 2 coins), and when I never heard anything about my order I emailed them to see what was up. Rather than telling me they would refund my money they simply told me that they hadn't had the item in stock for a long time and that I must have found the link through a Google search so it was my fault for ordering an item they didn't have. No offer of store credit or anything, they simply tried to blame me for placing an order they couldn't fill. I had to go through Paypal in order to get my money back.

HAH! Well I'm bloody glad I'm not the only one. That is basically exactly what happened to Sarah and me. They acted like we were putting them out for contacting them when it had been several months without our order and we still had nothing in. In the end, it was about a year later that we actually got our stuff, and then it was basically the same fiasco you guys described. What jerks. And what's worse is that everyone seems to love them and swear by their products. Even Bilgemunky endorses them. And of course, they're the organizers of NorCal, which is the biggest pirate festival in the bloody world, so it's like they're some kind of pirate gods or something and can do no wrong in the minds of the majority of the community out there.
Honestly, my hatred for them runs almost as deep as that I now harbor for CABoots. Why can't these companies just run on the frigging up-and-up for crying out loud? I'm really sick of this perpetually growing list of "never buy from them again" companies.

Tj 'Witty Jack' Scronce posted some unhappiness on Facebook with black bear and this is the "last straw" for me. I am taking down their recommendation on the website and placing a disclaimer by their name. Right now they are "hit or miss" as a vendor and it sucks when you are the "missed."

From now on, we recommend Sara Fay Tailoring http://www.sarafay.co.uk/
