My "At Worlds End" wig (from scratch)
Hey guys,
I'm starting to build a Jack Sparrow wig from At World's End (COTBP is a little too "hairy" and OST is a little too "blond" for my likings).
I have, so far:
1 Medium-Dark Brown Wig
3 "Rasta" dreadlock wigs (total of 34 dreadlocks)
1 "Wig Junk" kit from YorDreem
1 Bandana
I'm going to be starting this project this weekend, and I want to put up pictures of where I am up to for suggestions, comments etc. - I went with a "basic" Jack Sparrow costume for Halloween this past year and there was definitely a lot of room for improvement (and a lot of weight to be lost) if I am to look even slightly convincing.
Ignore the wandering eyes... that's what too much Rum 'n' Coke will do to a man. As you can see, the wig was far too "hairy" (it only had 11 dreads in it), the bone was all wrong, the glove had too much twine in it etc. It's a work-in-progress for the Pirate Crawl (Reno, in September) so I figured I'd start with the wig first. A decent wig and you're pretty far along to looking like Jack, in my opinion.
Anyways, updates to follow.

First attempt from last night.
Stitched 34 dreadlocks into the wig and did a quick braid in the hair... will spend a little more time on the top next time I work on it.

I'm thinking of letting some of the medium brown hair fall down the sides over the dreads, not a lot thought, just to cover up the "separation" between the layers. At the moment it looks like a Predator wig with a pony tail glued on! I have ordered the "Wig Junk" trinkets from Yordreem, and they've been dispatched already, so hopefully when I get the wig done and all those added, it will look the sh*t.capt.J.j.sparrow wrote:Wow much better! Now you needs some trinkets for it!
I'll be honest, lager's more my tipple (being British and all) but having a rum dressed as Jack just felt right!Mojo Turbo wrote:ha ha that's my favorite drink at the casinos

take a cat comb to the dreads and they'll look more like real hair.

Small update... Put in my Kuchi pendant and sail bone from Yordreem. I need a better bandana though.
