If you've ever made a tricorn, and have work-in-progress pics, post them here. That way, people can stick to here instead of browsing therpf for hours

Thank you Mojo. I should have clarified..let's make this thread a good point for people to learn how to make tricorns from scratch. I know in the past, people have posted their photo WIPs..maybe we should stick them all here?
I for one, would like to know how to make french edging.

My cut out brim, with inner circle for the cap, and the outer circle to be cut and used as the edging.
Prepped for usage.
working on that edging!
barge glue drying til tacky on more edging..
Edging attached to the front
edging on the back..not too pretty, but it wont be showing.
The cap of the tricorn, molded over a metal bowl and stapled to some wood.
The cap was soaked before stretching, so it will harden as it dries.

Tricorn 1.0 from four years ago. Funny this has been recycled to use for OST version. Still needs a new bowl! Working on a wood hat block!
Tricorn 2.0 My DMC / AWE version. Much heavier leather and the French Edging was more curled than folded.
Tricorn 3.0 Commission. Introduced green dye to the mix of brown.
Tricorn 4.0 - Commission. Improved on my technique. This one actually went to a friend that he only uses it to display.
Tricorn 5.0 - My best one to date! I am now sticking with this pattern and again the bowl will be created on a real hat block.
Now for the future I need more time!!! Improving my leather to 1 ounce calfskin which is nice and soft. So soft you need to use a hardener to make the leather stiff.
I have six pieces of goat skin and will attempt a double sided goatskin tricorn but again this requires leather stiffener.
Tricorn 5.5 - Updated French Edging and new / old bowl. Prepared under 2 hours for Halloween last year!
That is all!

Sorry to dredge up an old thread. However, I'm wondering if you still do commissioned tricorns, Capn_Jack_Savvy?

Aye mate! I still do commissions on the tricorns. I am in the process of making myself a new Curse of the Black Pearl version using lighter weight leather.
What version are you interested in? CotBP, DMC, AWE, OST? ABCDEFG?
I take my time when doing the commissioned tricorns meaning I hand punch, hand stitch, and wait for each step in order for the leather to dry and be shaped. Usually takes about 3-4 weeks. I try to stain in the daylight hours so I can get a better color palette rather than in evening under lights.

I'm keen on the COTBP version of Jack. Trying to keep it simple. However, I will need to wait at least five days before I know if I'll be placing an order. I have a bid in for one of ACME's custom order hats on eBay. The auction ends in five days. If I'm the winning bidder, I will go with him. If I lose out, I will be talking with you again. I'm just trying to figure out all my options. Thanks!

Would it be safe to assume that an Acme hat would be as good as a Capn_Jack_Savvy hat and vice versa? I'd be happy with either? I want to make sure I get a quality product. How much do your hats run? I assume it's probably dependent on size and which POTC version, right? I measure at 27.5" with my wig and bandanna on, and 22.5" without.
