Budget build first attempt
Since I don't have the money to throw for the nice gear, I bailing wire & duck taped my first outfit. Wig put together by me (did NOT realize the nightmare involved with that, but bullied through). Vest modified & dyed from a cheapy grey short costume supply one. Brown Docker pants. Plastic compass. Knitted coin purse dyed and turned into a wrist-wrap. Scrap leather cut & dyed to make the baldric. Used an old costume shirt I had (bought waist belts, the inexpensive rings, chicken foot, charm/bone, cheap pirate costume boots which I stained & scratched up). Pistol from Amazon. I still wound up spending way more than I wanted, but happy with my first go around. I figure over the next year or two I'll replace with nicer versions. Love all your costumes guys, absolutely amazing. Again, thanks for all the resources in the forums & costuming wiki!

Well darn it! If that's a first time "budget" build, I'd hate to see your expensive build.
You look brilliant.

Wow impressive. You got that together very nicely. Who did you buy the belts from?

Re: Budget build first attempt
The belts were from ACME, and way way too short, even after giving them measurements. I wound up cutting both in half and adding a 7-inch strip in the back.
Thanks for the compliments, I was a bit nervous to post on here after seeing some of your badarse outfits you have put together.
Side note: After being in costume for about 15 hours yesterday, I woke up today with neck/shoulder in a knot and a screaming headache, all from the weight of the baldric. Guess I'm getting old, OW!!!
Pirate weekend at the Texas Ren-Fest tomorrow. Totally stoked!
Cheers!

Re: Budget build first attempt
I noticed that his new belts seem to be shorter than the older ones. For example, I had an OST AM belt that I bought from him, but then traded it for a DMC/AWE belt with someone else (because at the time I was only doing DMC/AWE Jack). But when I actually updated to OST, I had to buy another belt from him.. and I noticed that the new one only fit me on the last hole. I'm sure I did not gain a ton of weight, because my other belt still fit me fine.. so he must be making them slightly shorter now for whatever reason.
The baldric I got however was the right size for me, and I gave him measurements (mainly because I'm short and I know the standard length would be way too long on me).
But yea, you did a fantastic job putting the costume together, looks like the costuming wiki worked very well for you xD
And yea, the ACME Baldric is pretty heavy. Even more so for you since you're using a metal sword. I find that the day after I go out as Jack, I am always insanely tired, but I also find that I accidentally fall into doing the walk and the movements, which is always really weird especially if I am not in costume. The act lingers around a bit, I guess.
Have fun at the renfest tomorrow! Post pics if you get any. I'll be heading to Rhode Island Comic Con as Jack with an Angelica tomorrow, so maybe I'll post pics of that.

Re: Budget build first attempt
I don't think I've actually decided which way I'm heading. I just wanted to get something together first, and then work on "canon".
Spent the day at the Texas Ren-Fest. I only saw a couple of other Jacks, and I got jumped for lots of pictures. It was quite fun. I'm still dragging them off the camera, but going to see if I can post some as requested.

Great...! Simply imrove your sash and your costume is nearly perfect. Even your pants are looking great and they seem to have the right color of the screen accurate breeches. And also I see, that you weathered your vest and shirt. You did a good job.

I miss Germany. I was stationed in Berlin from 1987-1989 (left RIGHT before the wall came down). Age 19-21 spent on the Kudam... whew what a party that was.

Re: Budget build first attempt
Got my hat today from Forgotten Seas Trading Company, just in time for Christmas. I also ordered the nice compass from them, but it will still be awhile before I receive. New sash obtained, new bandanna, Ve Neil's Pirate Pallete 2 make-up kit. I picked up some breeches from the Ren-Fest, but I need to replace the ties with buttons (it's darn close otherwise). Bought a new base human hair blend wig and custom dreads are on their way (making a new wig). Headed to SpaceCityCon.com in Galveston on Jan 4th, will get pics.

Very nice! Sounds like you're getting some great pieces for your Sparrow gear. Looking forward to seeing more pics!
Btw, do you happen to remember where you got that costume shirt of yours? I like the look of it a lot, works pretty well for Jack even though it isn't SA.

Bought off the rack from a place called Danny's Trix and Kix www.dannystrixkix.com which is about 2 blocks from my house. They had a whole bunch of different types and styles. The tag is no longer in mine, but if I get a chance I shall stop by and see if I can find it.

Re: Budget build first attempt
Working with Tab on mine as well. mine still needs quite a few small things.. I am missing "good" belts need to get those and replace my garbage ones.
Got an Acme hat as of today bought will see if it gets here in time for Space City. My wig is the Singapore POS. but Tab is helping me with that.
I got the same pants he did ( Ravenswood Leather) only thing wrong with them is they also need some buttons installed and the ties removed.
Found a good shirt there as well poet shirt upgraded linen only thing that isnt perfect is instead of a string from the neck it has more of a ribbon.. still very close.
Needs a little weathering as the pants do as well.
I already had Son of Sandler Capt. Teach boots which are fantastic but the only problem is they are black. Been wearing them anyway but really wish I didnt have to spend more big bucks on boots.. those were already 500 bucks (and with a real sole on them they are so comfortable rugged and practical)
Need to really get the accessories down on mine.. replace the baldric with a POTC version
Both belts need to be rebought with Sith or Acme.
Wig needs a little help ( Tab is helping me with that part. just need to get Scott to send me a new wig accessory kit and I should be in good shape after we are done)
Singapore Vest and frock coat needs weathering and better buttons.
need all belt effects. ( compass furs, and others.)
Wrist effects and rings. ( other than hand glove which tab hooked me up with)
Will get some pics of my work in progress with Tab soon.
