COTBP Wig Help
Hello everyone,
I'm looking into making my own wig in the COTBP style as that's the version of costume I'm doing. Does anyone know how many dreads are in his hair in this one? Links to a collection of good wig reference photos strictly for COTBP? What about dreadlocks, recommendations of hair/wig bases?
Some of these questions might be n00by, but I can live with that if you can.
Thanks,
-Clay

You could probably find a decent human hair blend wig on ebay along with dreadlocks or kanekalon hair all the ref pics are on the wiki this is just my advice I would check there for further info

Re: COTBP Wig Help
If I remember correctly from a few years ago, a good base wig would be brunette and kind of wavy hair with some bangs, correct?
I asked for more reference photos (if available) because I saved all of the one's from The Costumer's Guide like four years ago and that's what the wiki takes me to. I mean comparatively to the other films there aren't many dreads, so relative to the DMC/AWE wig, how many does everyone think it doesn't have (about how many dreads less)?

I can't say how many dreads there are, but I collected the coin guide on the wiki for COTBP, so you could start there for ref. pics.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
How do all you guys (for those who have human hair) make the dreads out of the human hair? I'm enlisting help from my friend that went to beauty school, and we're trying to get together how we're going to do this whole thing. I know UM had the tutorial for Kenakalon dreads, is it the same method? We haven't shopped around for hair yet, but I wanted to get an idea. Is there a thread I missed on here and KTTC about it?
Let me know if you can, bros!

I can do some HD screens if you want... I can grab 100 or so good wig shots with a small amount of effort.

If you could, that would be wonderful!HIGH5orDIE wrote:I can do some HD screens if you want... I can grab 100 or so good wig shots with a small amount of effort.
Unrelated, does anyone know where to get an SA Kuchi Dangle? How's Empire-Worldwide's? I heard their coin with dangles is made of plastic. Anyone with info they could throw in would be great, it's the only piece I haven't sourced.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
I made this one (I always make two of everything just in case) It's not exactly screen accurate but you're welcome to it. There is no dangle on it, however, Sirik Tribal (eBay) sells similar dangles that could be altered to a more SA look. I'll grab those screens for you today. Where do you want them mailed?

Thanks for sending me those screens, man!
So, can anybody answer if the Sith-World kuchi dangle is good?

Re: COTBP Wig Help
Is it a fact of no one ever buying one or their reputation as a seller that no one is telling me what's up? I don't want to have to source beads/dangles from multiple sellers to get a decent strand if I don't have to, so if anyone can tell me whether or not the dangle itself is good I would appreciate it. If the coin and dangle portions are metal then I'm going to go for it, if not then I will stay away.The-Clayster wrote:Thanks for sending me those screens, man!

Whilst I haven't bought the entire dangle, I have ordered the impossible bead from him and intend to make my own dangle. Will let you know what the bead is like once I get it.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
I'm actually in the process of getting just the bottom charm as I'm satisfied with the rest of my dangle which currently contains his "Impossible" beads.
Is the charm the part that most concerns you?

Here is the one I recently modded to look more accurate. Have yet to add the red "gem" but not as satisfied with it as I thought I'd be.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
Where'd you get the ends on your coin?
I got a strand from MsMazie and I am pretty satisfied with it. Of course I want to trade out the Impossible beads with ones from ACME, but I don't know if he is selling those anymore.
As for the dreadlocks, I think if you are using real human hair, I would probably use this stuff here and then use either This Method or This Method to create the dreads. I've used the second method to make my dreads, and if I didn't make the mistake of not brushing out the extension hair first before making dreads, I think this method would have yielded results very close to SA. Just make sure you brush out the extension hair before you start making your dreads.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
You guys are good, no worries! What was wrong with the coin part on Sith-World's? I'm just interested in the entire dangle strand itself, I probably should have more determination, but I just find it hard to believe no one makes fairly decent full strands, and I think theirs' looks the best. I just didn't want to spend 100 bucks and not be satisfied, that's all.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
I just made a deal with Empire World for the entire strand. It's another trade deal so I have to make items, ship them and then he'll ship the strand. So I likely wont see it for a couple weeks but I will take some hi res photos and post them on this thread if you'd like.

Re: COTBP Wig Help
Still searching around, if anyone has leads on an accurate kuchi strand (other than who has already posted here). I contacted Darci and she didn't respond, and I contacted a few other Jacks on facebook and I got nothing that I would consider helpful (just ignoring my messages), a few guys tried their best in Flock of Sparrows, which is great, but still nothing.
So, other than HIGH5, who's got an idea? Maybe I'm asking too much, and that's fine if I am, just let me know if I'm asking for the impossible. Does no one make a really decent kuchi strand? Yordreem's looks OK, but the metal beads look to be painted wood pieces. The only reason I'm leaning toward Empire-Worldwide is because they have the metal beads already on there. If I have to cannibalize a few strands that's cool, which ones should I get to do so?
Advice, advice, advice.
Thanks dudes

As promised hi res pics of the EW charm. Honestly, I'm not impressed but it is better than any other version I've seen. (Hi res photo links at bottom.)

HIGH5, would you be willing to send me those same HD screen grabs of the COTBP wig? I have a special project I am working on and need all the reference material I can get!
Thanks,
Robb
