Noble Collection Skull Ring (stone replacement)
About six months ago I was out of town some place else, walked into this store that sold movie merchandise, just to check out.
Just when I wanted to leave again I noticed, stuffed away in a corner, this skull ring replica.
It happened to be the Noble Collection Skull Ring. One I red about on the forums and seen pictures of, but never saw one in real (I'm not that much into internet-buying).
Anyways, real sterling silver, and although not screen accurate ('specially the stone) I seriously liked the look, weight and feel of this thing. It seemed to have more mass to it, compared to the real one, but that was something I actually liked about it.
Also the fact that it was a perfect fit on my finger, it was a no brainer for me to take it.
So finally, after many years without a ring, I finally got the most important one of the bunch.
Now here it becomes interesting. I only wore it once, and lost the stone that first day. Maybe it was karma, for me not liking the stone that much, who knows, but it's not something to expect from a ring that costs around a hundred, right?
Instead of feeling miserable about it, I could only think of not just finding a replacement, but also finding something better compared to what I lost...
So, a few days later, went to a local market to see if I could find something. Pretty fast I found this old button...
Not only was the stone the same size as the one I lost, it had a much better shape, form AND colour. Besides being a bit more flat compared to the original, this stone seriously looked the part.
Getting a rid of the metal around the stone was a bit tricky, but I got it out without any damage. Super-glued the thing in place and now it's not only complete again, it is much more screen accurate as well.
Mind you, this stone is plastic, cost me only 25 cents. But hey, costuming is all smoke and mirrors a lot of the time, right? I might find something more valuable in the future to put in there, but for now, I'm pretty happy. What started as a loss, eventually became a win.

Your plastic stone actually looks really awesome! It seems like the NC ring stone was plastic, too, so no harm there. I am surprised the stone fell out of your ring, though. I had an NC ring that I wore for over a year with no problems. I'd still be wearing it today had it not been for ACME's new skull ring. Now I wear it everyday.
Glad you were able to find a such a good replacement stone so fast. You ring looks great!

Thanks! Yeah, loosing that stone was crazy, didn't expect something like that from such a fine piece. But very happy with my replacement.
Didn't know the NC stone was plastic too.
Cheers
