Re: Disney Store Compass
I have the same compass and I´m also thinking about slicing it down to the correct size.
Do you have more information, hints, tips and photos from your "tuning-work"?
How can I open the compass?

Re: Disney Store Compass
Thank you.... that's very kind of you.
I sliced the button on the right side, which is used for spinning the compass.
The inner part is also converted. I used paper for imitating the leather inside around the dome with the stars; the paper is painted with black colour. I spray-painted over the dial and the compass-parts for "distressed-look". With an Edding-Pen I tried to imitate the broken parts and the little damages at the edges.
But to get it in really screen-acurate-shape, I would have to slice it down and make it thinner ... but up to now, I´m a bit too afraid of using the dremel-tool on this compass. Right now, I think, I did a good job and converted the formerly plastic-toy into a useful compass for my costume, which looks quite well from a few meters distance...
(Please don´t mention the stars on the inside ... I know, they are rubbish and failed... but I´m not going to open the compass for a closely examination)

Re: Disney Store Compass
Here are some pics of my zizzle conversion did along time ago, cut down to correct size, brass ring added on back, front latch sanded off and replaced with a more Screen accurate one, inside " metal dial " swapped out for a more Screen Accurate look. I really like that the zizzle has the trim of the compass slightly raised like the real one, instead of just painted on like the disney store one had.
