My OST wig

So I posted some pics on this other forum I belong to of my JS OST-ish wig.... all of a sudden It had become a total joke to everyone....I even got a pm from a guy telling me to either quit trying or to go kill myself.... I was like wow! This ruined my day completely....I asked the admin for help....but it was like "open forum...open response".... I need to ask my brethren....is it that bad I mean I know its nowhere near SA....but I tried.....

That's the thing with online forums...you always have people who think it's a safe venue to try to come off as superior by degrading others. I've run into it on some other forums but it often stops when you call the people out.

Your wig looks fine to me, but the important thing is that at lest you are giving it your best. If you are happy with it, the blazes with the others. I intentionally make my stuff not Screen Accurate for several reasons. One, I am not trying to recreate a screen prop - I am recreating a look. Secondly, when I do Jack I'm not doing Johnny Depp doing Jack... I take the amazing character he has given us and add myown elements to it - keeping the overall elements the same but there are some things that just aren't going to be - like I have chest hair and that's not SA but I'm not shaving it any time soon. I have blue eyes, and even though I just bought brown contact lenses I can't get used to using them yet so am still a blue eyed Jack. And you know what, 99% of the people don't care, and are happy to see me when I go out as Jack.

Embrace the spirit, have fun with it and it won't matter what some pathetic jerks who have to make themselves feel better by tearing others down have to say...

Imo, almost every Jack wig looks crazy without the bandana. But never so much as to warrant a response like what you got. I have moments where I definitely feel the same ( not from around this board ), where some people are just so inconsiderate it makes me want to slap them for even thinking of posting what they post. I don't know why some people can't get over their egos and accept the fact that this is an ENJOYABLE HOBBY for so many people, it doesn't have to be a full time dedication to perfection...lot's of people do it for fun, and I'm one of them, and you're one of them...and almost everyone here is too.

Your wig looks great and even better with the bandana! And then even BETTER with the whole costume!

The funny thing is that I find a lot of the time the people who are rude are probably the people that harp on screen accuracy all the time, but never, EVER post a picture of themselves wearing their 'screen accurate' costumes and barely share anything they make unless it's pieces from a seller.

You made this and deserve to share it! Take pride, have fun and don't let the naysayers get you down!!!

Most wigs look funny anyway sitting on a foam head or a long necked alien foam head or a camera stand without the bandana!!! My wig freaks out my kid all the time. It looks good ON YOU! And that is what matters to you!

It doesn't matter what people say about your wig......it is most likely jealousy! You made it! You put it together! You spent countless hours researching, experimenting, reading, backcombing, gluing, sewing, and finally WAHLAH!!!! Success! Your very own OST wig that YOU MADE...not purchased....not rented....MADE BY YOUR OWN TWO (perhaps three) hands!

I'm not bashing the wig makers or those that buy their own OST wig but take pride in what you made and what you wear! And when someone asks you "Hey is that a <insert wig maker wig name here> wig?" You can respond with a simple, "No! I made it!"

Keep on making and keep on pirating!

By the way stay away from those open forum boards! Many a times I have posted pics and got nothing but flak! Report it to the admin types and they don't care which is why I don't go to those boards anymore!

Those not familiar with jacks wig are usually taken aback when seeing how weird it looks without a bandana. The hairline looks too high and it usually looks too poofy. Honestly, throw a bandana on it and people may think again before insulting it. I think it looks fine mate.

For that first picture I would suggest maybe taking a picture in a natural light setting. Flash photography plays funny tricks to the eyes quite often. The wig looks quite good in the pic of you wearing it, it's tons better than what I got...which is nothing lol. Get a nice photo of you wearing it outside I'd say and post it as a reply to that other forum and rub it in the faces of the nay sayers.
