Re: BUDGET JACK: Head to Toe Supplies for DIY-ers.
I started on a budget also. My costume needs improving also but it works. I have a mix of items from Ebay and I started with a Costumebase belts and baldric. the Costumbase Baldric ripped and I also upgraded one of my belts to a real leather belt. My wig and hair accesories came from Tyrannical Piratical Treasures. I would like to upgrade my boots and pants if I can get some extra money.

my baldric is heavily modded fun foam, funny because I have no sword.....I may buy a pistol (or 2) the next time I'm near seaside Oregon.
Re: BUDGET JACK: Head to Toe Supplies for DIY-ers.
I've seen a brace of pistols, Queen Annes to be exact in a pawn shop in my town so am saving to buy them. Pretty beat up and to my knowledge not the real deal but they are cool enough

Re: BUDGET JACK: Head to Toe Supplies for DIY-ers.
I've just finnished making my baldric the on saturday and the materials only cost me about $16 plus the price of the buckle XD
Even better, the leftover materials gave me more than enough to make a tricorn. it looks good and because it's dark it looks more like the OST version.

I will take some as soon as it's done, the balrics done but the tricorn just needs the X shaped laces either side then a little weathering

Agreed! Very nicely done!
Oh, and also, if people are looking for a less expensive baldric alternative (like the ones Mojo posted above, but even smaller price tag), consider one of mine!

If you provide the buckle, I can make a DMC through OST version for around $85. Mind you, it won't have French edging, nor will it have embossed leather. But for a "close enough" budget alternative, I think it's pretty good (in my completely unbiased opinion ;P). Otherwise, I can make a CotBP version for $75 (sans buckle), like the one pictured.

Wow, mate, for a budget costume.... that looks AMAZING! It's easy to look SA when you have the funds to fork over for the top-of-the-line stuff. I'm far more impressed with people who use their own creativity to pull a great costume together on a shoestring budget.

I second those wise words! When a venture is not easy, and it borders on the obsessive to almost destruction, then the victory itself once caught tastes that much sweeter

Re: BUDGET JACK: Head to Toe Supplies for DIY-ers.
I was browsing facebook this morning to find a comment from a friend of a friend who has been acting on the set of pirates of the caribbean 4, he's one of the guards in the scene when Jack is in London, he said:
"Having actually seen the real Cpt. Jack (as well as countless stuntmen, body doubles and even a hand double) I can honestly say that the impression was excellent! The body language and facial expressions were very realistic! Well done Collin, you've obviously put a lot of time and effort into perfecting the Cpt. jack routine!"

I am always amazed at how the Jack costume transforms everyone's look. You seem to have a similar face shape to pull off a pretty good Jack as well. I'm anxious to see you when you get your beard braids attached. Also just need a little more coloring on your skin, weather it be getting a tan or using more makeup. Excellent.
