Boot modding advice?

I've currently got a pair of these "maverick" boots. I wanna mod them to look more like the boots we see in OST, so have ordered some Magix leather spray paint to fix the colour a bit, but what can I do in terms of weathering? Can you sand vinyl/leatherette? Any tips or tricks would be very much appreciated.

I think sanding the faux leather would destroy it...I think your best option might be to pick up some tan faux suede leather and adhere it over that and weather the suede with dirt and shoe polish. That's my 2 cents, could easily be wrong, but a friend asked me the same question last night on the phone and that was my recommendation. Doing anything that would reduce the integrity of the core boot would reduce the boot's life-span.

you can buy spray on fake suede, I was planning on doing this originally but just bought some chocolate caboots instead. leather smells lovely.
have a look online anyway, i forget what its called, frecking or frocking or something ...

I reckon you could spray them with that stuff, suede them up and weather them after
